First Week In RN School

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hey Everyone -

My name is Ryan and I have just begun my first week

in RN school outside of Philadelphia. Upon graduating

college in 2006 I went back to become a Nurse and this

is my first week in the program after all of my pre-reqs.

I joined because i admire all of your opinions and the fact

that mostly all of you have completed the goal I look to

attain. I am obviously scared , anxious and excited

to begin. after 4 years of college and 2 years in all science

labs I know how to study and how to prioritize my work.

I'm a bit worried about clinicals and the things that go with it.

I feel like i have the potential to be a great nurse, I just was

hoping my feelings are normal and that as i progress in

school these last 2 years I will find my confidence in everything.

Thanks so much - Ryan :)

congratulations on making the decision to join a wonderful profession, ryan! :yeah:

nursing school can feel a bit like a hazing exercise at times, but just work hard and remember when things get really tough: you are doing this because you want to be a nurse.

i went back to school for nursing in 2004 at age 28 after my first degree, and i made it through a four-year nursing degree with a husband and two kids, and worked part time on the side...so be assured, if i can do it, anyone can! your feelings are completely normal, and you will gain confidence as you make your way through nursing school. my best piece of advice is to listen attentively to the experienced nurses in your clinicals who offer advice and watch their practice...they are a source of endless knowledge.

good luck, and if you ever want to ask any questions to someone who went through nursing school very recently (i graduated in may), feel free to pm me.
