First time TEAS score

Published

So I just took my TEAS for the first time today and here are my scores:

(I didn't study at all for it, which yeah is stupid but I wanted to see how it went the first time. I've got my 2nd attempt scheduled for the end of January)

Adjusted individual score: 72.0%

ATI Academic Preparedness Level : Proficient

Mean- National: 64.3%

Mean - Program: 64.9%

Percentile Rank - National: 71

Percentile Rank - Program: 71

My GPA for the 1st semester of the MANE program is 3.0

I'm going to be applying next month for the ADN program at North Hennepin CC in Minnesota, and I'm just wondering how these scores compare to ones that have been accepted into different programs.

Thanks in advance!

So...I emailed counselors at 2 schools and one counselor pretty much told me most applicants scored about the same as I did and another counselor told me I should be aiming for 80-90%. I freaked out a little and have registered to take the test again. I think I will score better as I will be more prepared by knowing how much time I actual have for each section. I whizzed through the reading portion and slowed down on math, which got me into problems!!!! I would just go with my score I got the first time but I actually just paid for the second test and there are NO REFUNDS so I am gonna take another shot at it![/quote']

Which schools were these? Make 100% certain they are using TEAS V, not an older version. Typically schools find 75+ to be competitive.

I am also applying to IHCC. I scored 86% back in October and have a 4.0. I was also told that it will be very easy for the school to find 50 people with a 4.0 in the applicable classes so I'm retaking the test to get 90+ to give me a little more edge.

I honestly think you're in a good spot with an 86 & 4.0. They may easily find 50 people with a 4.0, but they will most likely be dipping into the mid 70's on TEAS scores when accepting students. Possibly lower. Make sure you speak with someone in the Nursing Faculty at your school. They'd know best.

Did you retake your TEAS? Or did you apply to the program with the score on your first attempt?

my first time score was a 70.9 I bought the ATI manual and the iphone app to study. I only really studied a little and tooka couple practice tests. My score got me accepted in to the program so you should be all set especially if you are planning on studying and retaking it. Good luck!
