First time- scared

Published

Traveling is something i have always wanted to do. Last summer, I was all ready to do it and somebody told me a horror story about an agency and I backed out. Now, my husband and I are really in the best place in our lives to pick up and travel (in between leases) and I am doing research again.... it seems like there are no good agencies out there! I have read so many awful things that it makes me want to never travel!! I know that there has to be some good agencies, otherwise there wouldn't be any travel nurses, right?

I have read other threads and so far Health-Force is the only one I have read positive feed back about. Anyone have any experiences with them? Any experiences with other agencies that are good?

I'm just really discouraged right now. :uhoh21:

every company has good and bad points. what works for one person isn't going to work for another. i hate to say this but they only real way to know if a company is good it to travel with them and see what you think. i like the company i'm with but from what i've read alot of people don't its all a matter of your experince. also recueriter makes a huge difference.

I am currently with Tailored Healthcare Staffing, and am very very happy with them. I was with ATC Healthcare, and although they pay well, I didn't always get paid on time. I was scared also when I started travel nursing, but have been doing it for almost a year now, and it was the best decision I ever made. I hope everything goes well for you, and I cannot stress enough, as everyone else has, to get EVERYTHING in writing! Good luck to you!!

I'm also with Cross Country and have been for almost 12 years now. Don't let the horror stories scare you out of traveling if you really want to. Just take precautions to make sure you are covered - as others have said, make sure that any and all conditions that are vital to you (payrate, shifts, floating, housing needs, etc.) are written in the contract. Any conditions not acceptable to you should be removed from the contract before you sign it (crossing out and initialing is NOT enough). Make sure you have enough of a financial cushion to pay necessary bills and get you home if a contract falls through or is so bad you need to leave and then you will never feel "trapped" in a bad situation. If you do these things, then you can relax a bit and enjoy the adventure of traveling.

I have been traveling with RN Network for over a year, and they have been excellent. PM me if you'd like my recruiter's contact info.....
