well, day 1 went well. I was nervous, thought i'd forget something, etc. but overall, went well.
day 2 was yesterday. 4 pt's (which is norm). 1 of them was a vent patient (vent to trach, alert pt) who had a PEG and had to crush all meds, 1 had nausea and was taking a phenergan induced nap all day long and waiting for a stress test, 1 was older and had poorly controlled DM, and 1 was 270 pounds and needed assist with transferring and talked a lot. (post CABG pt).
I had a nursing student on the last pt. Made me nervous, b/c i knew as a student, we all analyzed the nurses. which one was nice, which wasn't, etc. I also remember having a great respect for the floor nurses-I was always really nervous to approach them b/c they were busy, didn't want to ask stupid questions, etc. But today, I felt like I was trying to make sure I did the right thing. I thought her instructor was watching me, i almost felt like a student again! and when my student came on the floor, saw her pt's name, and on her little paper wrote RN then had my name by it....wow. very interesting.
it went well, i guess. i survived and they all did, too!
