First Cna interview

I had my first CNA job interview yesterday and I think I did pretty good. I was so glad that I took the time to prepare myself by googling the type of questions that they may ask. Boy did they have a lot of questions lol. The only question that had me stumped was what was my least favorite part of my CNA class, I honestly couldn't think of anything!! Nothing about the class bothered me, idk if that was a good or bad thing. They will be making calls Monday to those who got the job, I am hoping and praying for the best.

Thanks, I will post back Monday.

Good luck! Did you apply in person? I started some online looking but no luck. :-(

No I applied on line through trinity senior living for this one. Are you a new Cna too?

Thanks! P

Well I take my exam next week but I I finished my training the 30th of April but I didn't state I wasn't certified yet on my resume. And on some jobs I was honest in the cover letter by telling them I was soon taking the exam and neither have yet worked for me. I've been applying a lot though. I'm in NY. I don't have any experience but baby sitting which is what I've done these last two years on and off besides that everything else was retail and customer service. I did not want to include that. Maybe I should.

Ive heard a lot of people mention that applying in person is better.

Yea I have heard that if you apply in person to dress like your going to work with your scrubs on and hair pulled back. I finished my class in March and became certified the 19th of April, so it took about a month to land my first interview and like you I have no experience I actually work at a laundromat right now. I was also told to try Craigslist believe it or not they have a lot of cna job postings. Home health care and assisted living facilities could be a little easier to get into also.

Yea I've tried craigslist but it's mostly agencies looking for experienced. I'm gonna do walk ins after I take my exam hopefully I pass! I thought I should go dressed in scrubs but my teacher said to go dressed in slacks and a dress shirt.

You should fill the app out anyway for the ones that say experience only...I read somewhere on here that some places just put that in case a residents family or a potential resident sees it.

I got the job!!!!! So happy! Thanks for the encouragement

First off congratulations! No more laundromat work!! Very happy for you.

And yes I've read that somewhere too. I just can't wait to take my exam and be certify for sure and feel confident enough to apply. Ugh I'm so nervous. I feel like I am over thinking things and over studying. I can't wait for weds to come already and get it over with!!

How soon did you get your results?

  • Author

Thank you!! Yes putting my 2 weeks notice in lol.

I got got my results right after each part. After I did my skills they gave me my results and then after my written they gave me those. Try not to be nervous, make sure you read through the skills checklist, and read through the frequently missed checkpoints. They both were on the prometric website
