Good for you, Memories. It is great to face your challenges and come out the other side. If you can deal with your own "Achille's Heel" and walk away it is a great accomplishment - whatever it is. We all get there by taking the small steps and one person's small step can be a great achievement. Good for you for getting through and putting that behind you. You DID IT! Yeah.
I'm on class two of three I needed to do for Algebra. I needed to do the first because I did not feel comfortable with my basics so even though I tested into Algebra I had no idea what I was doing. Now that I am doing Intro to Algebra after taking Pre-Algebra I am getting much better! I really want to get an A in algebra
Oh I know the weight your are talking about! I am finished with my prereqs now but I had to take 4 math classes before I was done! I had to take 3 of them before I could even start my sciences. When I look back over it I wonder how I ever made it through? I got A's in all of them and I still hate math but like you said my fear is gone and that in itself is a nice little reward. Congrats to you!!!
Thank you! I was so glad to read this....I have been waffling back and forth about even going through with trying this whole nurse idea....because of the MATH. But if others have struggled through okay, I'm sure I can. I work as hard as anyone I know, so at least I have that going for me.
nurturer, I am glad to hear you will be giving it a try. Keep your attitude as postive as possible and you will do fine. There will be many highs and many lows, but you will get through it. It sounds like you have a good work ethic and that is more than half the battle! Make sure you take advantage of any help that is offered and use a tutor if you feel like it would help you out. You will feel so good about yourself when you face this head on and come out a winner!

I know for some finishing up their Algebra requirements might not be a big deal. For me it feels like a huge load has been lifted. Math was always my weakest subject. My school requires us to take advanced algebra all the way up to the pre-calc. level. I was more than apprehensive about this.
I just finished up with an A- for my last class!
I hope this post might encourage anyone who is feeling hesitant about taking college algebra. If I can do it so can you! There were certainly times I felt like
.
By the end of my second class I was surprised to say that it was beginning to sink in and be almost enjoyable. While I will probably never say math is my favorite subject, I can say the fear is gone. I have an understanding of the subject that I would have never thought possible.
If you are still working on your math pre-reqs I want to encourage you to hang in there. It will get better and the sense of accomplishment you have when this is completed is awesome!!
