Fingerprinting for CA license

I am working on applying for my CA license while on an assignment on the East Coast. I think I finally figured out where to go but they're wanting to know what fingerprint card to use. Is there a specific card to use? When I applied for my previous license no one asked. I know it can take a long time to get a CA license, so I don't want to do something to delay it.

Standard FD-258 from anyone who does fingerprints. You can also get one from the BON but it will delay getting your license by several more weeks.

I found it better to use the fingerprint cards from the facility (I went to the local police station) because 1) no waiting for CA BON to send theirs (1-2 weeks) and 2) more space to fill in the required information such as eye color, hair color, race, etc...

Thanks for the helpful replies!

More room? Then it may not be the correct form. But there may be more than one style of the FD-258 for all I know!

The cards CABON sent had large 'x's' in the boxes I needed to put my demographic information in. I opted to use the cards at the police station which were identical. I did need to write in the address.

If you got cards from the BON, I'm not understanding why you used another card. You already did the waiting for the card, and if they don't need the demographic info, neither do you need to provide it by getting a different card.

I did not have enough space to fill in my demographic info on the CABON provided card. I requested the cards from CABON weeks in advance just to be on the safe side so wasn't really waiting/anxious to receive them. I also opted to use the blank cards at the police station incase I wanted to apply to another BON that required fingerprint cards. Then I am free to fill in any BON address.

Just a FYI, CA BON only check the CA DOJ for background check once a month if you send in a card. I'm just waiting for my background check to go through. Mailed the application middle of May. They cashed my check June 2. Still waiting for them to get clearance for my background I don't know when they sent that to the DOJ. Shouldn't be any issue with my background unless it's the quality of my fingerprints.
