Fingerprintind and TX BON

Published

I graduate May 6, 2010. I have already paid Pearson and the TX BON. I am graduating from a school in FL and moving May, 21 to TX and taking the boards. I have to submit the FBI fingerprint card and can't use the idenity solution's services offered to TX residents because I won't be moving there till the end of May and don't want to wait that long. I have a critical care internship IN TX where I'm moving pending that I hold a TX license by July 12, 2010. Therefore, I want to take the NCLEX in early June to be safe. I am going to get my fingerprints done on Wednesday, April 26 and next day air them to TX. Does anyone know how long the background check will take to be processed? I really want to recieve my ATT as soon as possible so I can schedule a test date. Also, should i request 2 fingerprint cards and send them both in case 1 gets rejected? Or is that not allowed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! =]

It usually takes about 5 to 7 days... ,give or take, to get your ATT after you do the whole finger print thing the normal way. Make sure you go online to the TX BON website and take the jurisprudence exam like now (its easy, just get more than 35 or so of the 50 questions right) your jurisprudence exam needs to be done before your license is issued if you pass the nclex.

Thank you =] But, do you know how long it takes for the fingerprinting/background check to be processed (or is that the 5 to 7 days youa re talkinf about?)? How long did yours take? I'm REALLY worried cause some sites say 4 months!! I would've gotten them done sooner, but it's not a requirement for FL and on the BON's website it doesn't say anything about how long it takes to be processed. Thank you so much for your input =]

If you fly to texas and have it done by the people at whatever company does it you can get it back in about 5 to 7 days because it is electronic. Its at least two to four weeks if you do it the old fashioned ink way I believe. If you really want to know for certain.. call a community college nursing program in texas and ask to speak with their ADN program director or ask one of the secretaries.

If you send it in the "old way" make SURE you fedex or ups so someone signs for it and you can track it.

L-1 Identity Solutions (formerly known as Identix) is the fingerprinting service used by Tx BON. They show on their website to have a FL office. I would check with them and the TX BON on having them done and electronically sent to BON.

Good luck.

armywifegn,

Hello. I am in the same situation... how long did it take for the background check to go through for you?

texas BON received my fingerprints May 26th and I am still waiting for the report to be recieved!

I had to contact L-1 here in Texas regarding this same kind of thing. I was told it takes longer to get the paper version done because it's all done by hand, at least up to a certain point, where the electronic version is ALL---electronic!! So the Tx BON will get it, process it, then send it to the agencies they need info from, who will process it, then send it back to the BON. I was told it couldbe as long as a month before the BON got it back for final processing. Being from another state you may or may not qualify to hop a ride here and do it electronically. I was told I had to do it because I had not been a resident long enough. Turns out I'm an idiot and transposed 2 numbers in my SSN so I corrected that and did it electronically. Call the Tx BON AND L-1 to find out exactly what might be required before jumping over the side. Best wishes to you!!

I realize this thread is almost a year old, but in case other people are wondering....

I submitted a fingerprint card (I couldn't do that L-1 Identity Solutions stuff because I'm out of state) and I actually had to do it TWICE because the quality was too low for the first set of prints...both times I sent them it took about 2 weeks. I got my ATT very shortly after my CBI went through.

I agree with Crimson, Send it via Fedex or UPS with a tracking. I send it with USPS ( certified). It was still delivered to the wrong state and then redelivered to the correct address on the package after 2 long days. Such a waste of time and energy especially trying to call USPS customer service. I would never ever use USPS for sending my sensitive documents!
