Finding a nursing job when Canada has closed PR for nurses.

Hi

I am a RN from India. I am eligible to write the CRNE. But the Canadian government has temporarily stopped issuing PR for nurses under skilled worker category.

I have been told that the next option is finding a job, getting a work visa then writing the CRNE.

Anyone knows about any institutions / agents who help in this job seek for nurses who have similar issues.

:sarcastic:

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

There is no agency that can help with this. You could try a temporary work visa but you would need to find en employer first. With nursing no longer on the skilled worker list this may be the only option.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Who knows if nurses are taken off the list is temporary or not but there are others ways to get PR you just need to read the CIC website. Other option as mentioned is finding employer willing Togo the temp worker route and forthat the employer has to prove that they haven't been able to fill the job from within canada

My health authority is closing units and "relocating staff".

That means that those staff will be bumping staff out of their jobs. The bumped staff will then go into the float pool and hope to pick up enough hours to meet their financial obligations. Or move to other areas to find work.

There really isn't a need for any of the employers to go off shore to find nurses.

from my experience you cannot register as rpn or rn in ontario unless you have confirmation of permanent residency, so i dont know what he best route would be! on the subject of using an agency be very careful, i used one paid them to register me with cno, promised me assistance with a job, housing etc none of which materialised. I have now been in canada 6 months and had to start the whole registration again, find my own place to rent and no prospect of gaining employment within the nursing sector!
