Finding my fnp preceptor

Good afternoon

I'm starting the FNP program this coming Monday. I'm a little nervous about finding a nurse practitioner preceptor, even though my practicum starts in the summer 2019. I know I have plenty of time, but I heard it is a struggle. Does anyone know or would like to precept me for the summer 2019 for the health assessment course? I'm located in Riverview, FL thank you so much

Hello simplyyysid,

My university provides a database of past preceptors, so I sent emails to about 15 of them for my first clinical rotation in the summer of 2020. One preceptor reached out to me, but the NP did not meet the requirements.

Also, I signed up for a preceptor pass on "ENP Network". Within a week, I heard from 2 potential preceptors and I am in the process with one of them now. The NP is about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away from me, depending on traffic. That is fine with me. I am just glad I was lucky enough to find one.

Now that I have my first preceptorship locked in, I have to start searching for two preceptors for my fall 2020 clinical rotations. I hope I am fortunate enough to find them within the next few months.

Good luck to you!
