Hi,
Has anyone at any Ivy Tech campuses got their award letter yet for their financial aid for 2008-2009??

I know what you mean. I have paid for everything but the tuition and the books. They said we can't use financial aid to pay for the books until after the 4th of August. We had to order the scrubs from a company and pay TOP dollar out of our pocket. I paid for mine back in June. When I called the company to ask where they were, they said Ivy Tech told them not to ship them until October! Ivy Tech didn't pay for them.......I did.
I am calling Uniform House tomorrow to ask where my order is. I paid close to 70 bucks for one shirt, one pair of pants, one lab coat, and 2 name tags. Geesh!
That's ridiculous that IT told them not to ship your order. You paid for it. What if there is some kind of problem and you need to send it back?
I love the fact that I am not technically registered for the fall until my classes are paid for. Well...how can I pay for classes without my Pell?
I am still waiting for my last disbursement as well. My disbursement date was the 17th, meaning it didn't print until the following Monday and I should receive it hopefully by next Monday; Thursday at the latest. I wish I could direct deposit it!
Now I am waiting to apply for my FALL LOAN...this is getting ridiculous. The semester starts in a month darnit!
Our uniforms were 185.00!
That was 2 tops, ( the cheap walmart brand 3/4" sleeve cotton top that you can get there for 3.99 but no.........we HAD to buy them from nanco and pay 21.00 each!) 2 pairs of pants, 4 eplets, two name badges, 2 smocks.
I could of went to the local uniform shop and paid about 50.00 for everything. But nope, we had to have Nanco!
Very irritating.
PS: Ivy Tech has make the decision that they will no longer allow us to charge our uniforms to our FA.- whether it be Stafford loan or Pell grants!
So.......I am paying for my Stafford loan...they decide how much to give me not knowing how much I pay for "life supplies like gas, food, mortgage etc............and then they tell me I can't charge MY uniforms on MY loan!
Its getting to be like a dictatorship there!

Mrs.frog I'm in the same boat you are. It's aggravating. They told us if our classes aren't paid for the first day, we're dropped from the program. Well, I can't pay it without a Stafford Loan so it's not my fault Ivy Tech is full of slackers. I work a whole 25 hours a week and am broke. There is no way I can pay for tuition and books out of pocket, even if I did receive the money later on. You can't pay it if ya ain't got it. I'm struggling just to gather up money for uniforms and clinical supplies. Thank God, we don't have to order them. We can buy our uniforms anywhere which makes it a bit cheaper.
Anyway, I think Ivy Tech probably waited til last minute to switch over to the new system and have now screwed themselves. It's so Ivy Tech of them!! :)
I will just be super p*ssed if I don't get my money before classes start and I'm dropped from the program. I wouldn't think they would do that considering the situation but you never know. I didn't bust my ass to get here and then get dropped from the program. No way!!!!

If it comes to that, I would speak to someone in the Bursars office. They should allow you to set up some kind of payment arrangement that will prevent you from being dropped. I would keep calling them and stalling your first payment until your funds are available. I'm sure they run into this quite often. It's worth a shot, anyhow.

I rec'd my 2nd part of my Stafford for summer on July 17th.
What bank did you chose? Perhaps that is the hold up? Has the bank already released the 2nd part to Ivy Tech? If so, Oh.............I would do some butt chewing there!
Slip on your Ninja outfit and pay them a visit. :smiley_ab
