Hey, all....I admit this is a shameless plug, but I just read THE AUTOMATIC MILLIONAIRE by David Bryne and realized a lot of his ideas make sense....he talks about saving in a 401k/403b and not going into debt, except for a house....saving money in a simple manner.....I would highly advise reading this book....just a tip now that student paychecks are a thing of the past.

it's kinda funny... i was into finance before i was into nursing. rich dad, poor dad is another wonderful book. also, be sure to check out the millionaire next door. these are extremely motivational books as far as making our hard-earned money work for us. a great website to check out is www.clarkhoward.com. he's the man.

:specs: :twocents: ;)

Those are both great books. I also recommend Dave Ramsey's books (Total Money Makeover...etc) as well. He has a great radio show too. Oh, and The Millionaire Next Door is THE benchmark book on this subject.

I read on MSNBC today the headline, "Is Thrift the New Black?"

I'm not terribly frugal but live way below my means now. I don't try to keep up with everyone anymore and have more money in the bank thanks to that!

I have found what I consider the best online forum for personal investing at http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/index.php. Or you can look at their summary page at http://www.bogleheads.org/index_wide.htm. It follows the tenets of John Bogle who is the founder of the Vanguard Group, a well-know mutual funds group that popularized low-fee index mutual fund investing. There are all sorts of useful resources at this website for people who want to know more about $ mgmt and low-cost, well-diversified, long-term and passive investing. Good luck!
