Finally working

Published

I was caught in 2014, heard from the Board in 2017. (yes three years....) Took one year to find a job and have been working for 3.5 months.

I am extremely lucky and so grateful to my coworkers. I cannot wait for the restriction to be lifted though. Having to ask a nurse to medicate my patients is awful. Its a humbling and embarrassing test every time. The patients wait longer than I like and I to have to explain what/why I want this or that med. Its very clear who resents this and some are just too overwhelmed to do it for me. I totally understand why narcotic restrictions are part of this but they make getting a job next to impossible. I still have no idea why my boss took a chance on me and is willing to put up with this.

I am working on an inpatient floor where we have three patients max. Total knees, hips, hysterectomies, and back surgeries mostly. There are a lot of meds going out but with only three pts its not too crazy.

I am so relieved to be working but I also feel like I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

What state are you in? Did you go crazy waiting to hear from the boards? I've only been waiting a month and I am in a constant state of panic. I wanna go get a job while I wait but I feel like as soon as I get a job the boards will notify me!! I'm on unemployment but what I get in a week I make in a day as a nurse.

Ohio. I was advised by my lawyer to put my license on inactive status to look good in the eyes of the board. Thats why they took so long. I lived with that awful anxiety for three years, however, I did need the break from nursing. I was able to find something using my bachelors in the mean time thankfully.

My "sentence" was more lenient as a result I believe. Only two years, no chem eval, no meetings, and a six month narc restriction.

I am in a similar situation. Hang in there... We've worked very hard to get where we are, this will not last forever, but in the meantime it sure sucks.
