Take care of yourself. Starting a new job (and a new career) can be draining. There is simply so much to learn, so many new faces, places, procedures, etc. ... that it takes a lot of energy.

So, plan on getting plenty of rest, eat well, exercise. Scale back your holiday plans. etc. Too many newbies try to do too much (in both their work and personal lives) and end up getting exhausted, burned out, sick, etc. They end doing a poor job both at work and at home. So plan on taking it as easy and conserving your energy for the next several months.

As someone who has worked with new nurses for over 25 years, that's the best advice I can give. I have seen "over-ambitious" activity be the downfall of many good new nurses over the years.

Congratulations! I start my first job in 2 more weeks. I'm doing a happy dance for you!:yeah:

Think critically. Think critically. Think critically. Did I mention think critically. Think what needs to be done and all the steps that need to be done to accomplish it. And remember "doing nothing" is never the correct answer.
