FINALLY..I have passed my boards and can start learning!

Published

It's really happened after these last few years of endless study sessions, countless hours at the hospital and on I-40, memorable creative red marks on care plans and the futile nervous breakdown before finals.....I finally made it and took my nclex passed and I'm finally a nurse!!!!!!!!!!With that being said I wanted to address something on here, I've seen a few threads about the struggles found between student and nurse and I am ready to speak on it after hearing some conversations of ushers at my graduation, first of all I always knew I wanted to be a nurse, I wanted to help those who needed it. I was that forever nursing student asking questions and following you nurses around because I'm eager to know everything you know, I look up to those who take the time to help me learn. I have met many wonderful nurses who guided me to be a better nurse and person along the way, and I know some of you on here find yourselves being a preceptor to some students and I want to say thank you because I am sure you don't hear it enough. There were times when I was so lost that I needed a kind person to just be there and not only did some of these nurses take time from their busy routines but even from their personal time to help teach an art that was meant to be passed from caring soul to caring soul. On behalf of students I want to apologize in advance for those who don't respect the responsibility but more so want to say a huge THANK YOU, from those you impact. I hope to be a kind caring and compassionate nurse and hope to never lose sight of the reason I became a nurse and i think it will be made more possible by the great examples I got to witness. :) God Bless

congrats and thanks for those kind words. What did u use to study? I am scheduled to do my exam on monday and I am sooo scared. willbe my 3rd time doing this exam. Congrats girl

Thanks yall!

to Suziecute: I used Kaplan question bank and learning modules on demand. My BIGGEST henderance was my self! I let my nerves get to me alot that day, I finally felt like I was being overwhelmed, so I stopped what I was answering, closed my eyes and asked for some clarity and calming, took a deep breath, and I know to some it might sound crazy but it worked for me. I also went in expecting to take all the questions, so to finish without doing that was a bonus, I have also figured out that I can only keep my attention for about 50 questions and after that my scores started to decline so regardless of if I needed a break or not, at every 50 I stopped and went to the bathroom (nervous bladder :) ) and came back and continued again.

I also found I was trying to analyze more of what kind of question it was like application or analysis and wasn't really paying attention to the actual question!!!!!!!!!!!

PS...what ever study guide your doing focus on the rationales of the ones you miss, I got a TON of very useful information from that.

RnRobbin, Thanks for the info. Is your qbank still active? If you dont mind sharing it with me. I am scheduled to take mine on monday and my qbank expired yesterday. If i had mine still open would study for a week and then do my exam because i just started getting the tree. Please help me. I love kaplan. what was your score on test trainer 6 and 7? when do u know u are ready to test? please help.

Hi Sorry I ment RKRobbins but RNRobbin still sound greatttttttttttt. Need ur help plz. Thanks

HAHA, anything with my name and RN sounds great to me, PM me and ill give you the info you need to use my q-bank.

I only did the first 40 on number 7, and to be honest my scores aren't great at all with kaplan, but I in turn I used every wrong question as the opportunity to learn something new from the rationales.

I don't know how to answer when your ready tho, bc if I would have waited until I THOUGHT I was ready, I would have never taken the test. :)
