Hello everyone. I have been absent from this forum for a long time, but here I am again to get some advise about my schooling. I finally reached to the point where I can actually start taking pre-req's for nursing school. I need bio181, bio201, and chm 130. (Btw, I live in az and am planning to go to community college) I would like to take 181 this summer so I can take 201 in fall. I am married and inedependent. I will be going back to school with financial aid and loan since my husband can't support me. I am currently working as nanny but if I do take classes in summer I need to quit because its going to be a day time. I need to take out a loan so I will not have to worry about money and not be streesed over it even if I get a part time job. My plan is to focus on school this time since I screwed everything u last time I was in college. The only college that offers bio 181 is over at phx college. I wanted mcc butclasses are full. And If I want to take out a loan then I need a 6 credit so I wanted to do online cre reading class at rio salado. I am not sure if I should just wrk tru summer and start school in fall and try saving money or should I not waste time and take bio in summer and quit my job. I know I wrote a lot nad tis may be very confusing. And advise wll be very appriciated. Thanks

Personally, I would quit working (only if it's affordable) and get those prereqs finished as soon as possible. Unless your GPA is high enough (usually a 3.5 or higher) you could be on a waitlist for quite awhile. However, you must do what suits your families needs. Best of luck to you! = )

Thanks for ur reply. I don't want to quit but since they need someone fulltime I can't be there if I decide to go to school starting summer. Mother is expecting me to take classes online but I do want to really focus on schooling this time. I don't want to worry too much about money. I used to have 3.5 gpa then many things happen (transfering to party school, issue with money) my gpa dropped. Long story short, I lost my status as an international student and took me almost 3 yrs to get back in school. But it got me think what I really want to do for my future and I wana be a nurse. I am going back to school on my own this time so I'm lil. Stressed out with preparing for school. I wana start taking classes summer so I can be done with my prereq's by spring. But I will not be able to keep this job. Maybe I will find a part time job. I know that aid will cover my tuition but I wana take out loan to pay rent and stuff. Would u suggest me to start taking some prereq's in summer? Thanks for ur time

Absolutely, I would finish the prereqs as soon as you can. The waitlist can be up to 2 yrs. to get into clinicals (at my school, anyway). I know what you mean about working and not wanting to quit your job. I enjoy working and that's why I'm forty and still in school because I've always quit school to work. I'm currently working part time as well and I will have to give up my job soon. My summer schedule has me in school everyday of the week! I don't like giving up my summer but it's what I have to do in order to finish school.

That's why I suggest that you finish school as quickly as possible. I wouldn't want to see you in my position.

I really hope everything works out for you! God Bless!!
