Hi
Im a final year nursing student in the UK and ive always wanted to move to california. I have done some research in this and the same issue of not having the correct hours and theory in all types of nursing kept arising. does anyone know how I can go about completing hours in these specialities or would I need to take any courses?
In addition is it better to go through an agency to get a job or to approach various hospitals directly?
Look foward to hearing from you!

@nadine
Have u come across any programs that can be taken to fulfil the requirements of clinical&theory hours in obstetrics/paeds and mental health ?
I've come across 'cope health solutions' based in LA and they have a course to make up obstetrics and mental health but I don't kniow if they provide clinical experience in those areas...need to investigate this more.

Yeh same I've been doing that as well...yes nursecabanita posted some really good info up which I need to check out. Also I'm goin to ask my aunty who lives and works in LA as a nurse, so I will ask her if she can find out some information
Ill keep you posted

You will also want to ask the BRN if those approved refresher/re-entry courses would satisfy their requirements. Don't take anything until you clear it with them first. Nothing is worse than paying a lot of money, complete a course, and then come to find that even though they are on the BRNs website as approved courses but that they don't qualify. Good Luck
