You are not filing for the Board exam as you call it, there actually are no state Boards any longer. You are applying for licensure as an RN, and the exam is called the NCLEX-RN that you will be sitting for. It also requires permission from the FL BON for you to be able to sit for it.
Anytime that a course is stated that it is required to get licensed, it needs to be done before you do anything or should be. Remember that the exam is the final step in the licensing process and if they happen to check to verify if you have completed the course or not, and it has not been done, then one is not issued the license.
I would wait until you actually have the course done, it can be done rather quickly and is never an issue. Most states will not even grant permission to sit for the exam if any of their required courses are not done before.
This means that you also would not be able to register with Pearson-Vue for most states.
When you send in the application for licensure, it will ask if you have taken the course or not. Answering that you did, just because you plan to take it before testing would be considered giving false information and can keep one from ever getting licensed a state.
Please be very careful with what you do. There is a statement on each and every application for licensure for every state in the US and it essentially states that you are verifying that all information that is being submitted it true and correct. One little thing like this and all can cause major grief for you.
If it was not required and listed as mandatory to be done before doing anything, then it would not be considered as mandatory.

hi is there anybody who is going to take florida RN board or have passed already?I have questions regarding the mandatory continiung education requirement. Do you need to complete the 2hour course of prevention of medical error even if you are just going to file for the board exam? Would it be okay if the papers for medical errors as proof that you finish the course would come later so long as you're scheduled exam is a month later? Anybody who's been through filling their papers in florida please share your experiences:typing and tips.....Thank you.
