Filipino nurses working in Finland as Nurse Assistants

Published

Hi there,

Any Filipino nurse out there currently working as a nurse assistant in Finland?

Well, one of my closest friends have asked me if I'd like to try working as a nurse assistant in Finland. She told me that I will be paid 1000+ euros every month if I do work there on one of their nursing homes.

I was just concerned and would want to know more as I'm currently unemployed (though I am working as a freelance writer right now).

From my readings, I learned that Finland imposes high tax and that the standard of living is fairly high. Moreover, Finnish is a very difficult language to learn (I'm not quite sure though if I will be able to learn this language after taking the language course prescribed by a manpower agency here - about 3 to 4 mos. I guess).

I thought of working in Finland and earn some money before going to Canada (I have several relatives in there (first degree cousin [PR], aunt & uncle) - they could help with my living expenses [e.g. food, place to stay] until I am able to stand on my own). My only problem is the proof of funds needed so I was thinking of going to Finland first and hopefully earn and save money.

I am just a bit apprehensive of applying particularly that I have not read much Filipinos posting their nursing assistant experience in Finland.

Well, I hope you'd answer this one. I am just a bit of a worry wart. I just prefer learning more about some things before coming up with a decision. I'm an RN here in the Philippines and have had 6 mos. of experience in working on a secondary hospital. I've been exposed to almost all departments including OR, DR, Pedia, NICU, ICU, Medical, and Surg.

Thank you so much in advance!

Bacolod?

Are you able to stay with your friend for a few months while working? Because in almost all countries, if you are able to do that, while saving money (don't send it all back to the Philippines), you would be able to have enough to establish into an apartment nearby. Taxes are also on a ratio, if you are the lower class, then you pay lower class taxes. Manage your money well, and you should do fine there in Finland. Imagine, anyone else in minimum wage there in Finland is in the same situation as you.
