Published

hi everyone. in a newbie here. so please welcome me. :D thanks.

anyways, i am a Filipina who just graduated this April from a Nursing school in the Philippines and came to Houston just this June after taking the local Nursing Licensure Exam. and i am wondering if there are kind hearted nurses (Filipinos, or not) in Houston who are nice enough to help me and give me information about the process of getting a license in Texas, or recommend someone who could help. it's still early there's still a lot of time, i know, but while waiting for the results of the June board exam, i want to find as much information as i can, so that it would be easier when time comes that i will apply for the state board.

well, thanks for reading this. and i hope that you would help me.:yeah: i'll be waiting for your reply. and it would be greatly appreciated. thanksomuch!! :D

You stated in the thread or another thread that Texas requires a local licenses (Which is incorrect), that is what Iam talking about

Huh! what? when? you must have mistaken me for someone else.

Gilly, he actually owes you an apology because of something that you stated that was correct. Of course he never apologized because he was proven WRONG!

If you read the Texas BRN it stated that you do need a local license. Something that is written on the BRN website takes overrides something verbal over the phone. If it's clearly written in the website I would take that over something verbal over the phone unless that verbal statement can be given also in writing. It clearly states that a license verification is needed for foreign grads under the FAQs. So if Texas is stating over the phone that you don't need a local license, then they need to clearly state that on their website or something given written to that fact.

No apologies needed. We all know what the correct information is and that's what matters :wink2:!

Also, just briefly skimming through Texas BON requirements, it seems like they require a verification or a prior license in the jurisdiction where you receive your nursing training, CES, and an English exam.

The above post has your name handle

If you read through the website it states that Gilly was correct. So you STILL owe Gilly an apology.

Oh that one! Hey, I said that I was briefly skimming through the Texas BON website when I saw that. Definitely not claiming that my word is "dogma" in that case but you seem to be the expert so I would definitely defer the final word to you.

Well it's written on the Texas BRN that you need a license verification. I'm taking anything written over anything verbal. If they're saying this over the phone as you claim, then Texas really needs to put it in writing. If it wasn't written then it didn't happen as they say in nursing. :D

Texas does not require a local license to sit for NCLEX.

If you have it, then you must indicate it, if you don't have it then it's not required.

When was the last time any of ya'll called the Texas BON? Yea that's what I thought never.

Call the Texas BON and then you will be able to verify my answer, and if your man or woman enough, you may even say you were wrong

No, don't need to call them. Not interested in a license there. I'll take your word for it. But the OP should definitely deal with the Texas BON directly. It's her career on the line, not yours, not mine.

100% agree with you

Every one needs to call the BON directly and find the answer directly.

I have a license for 3 decades, I can only remember calling the BON one time. Why would someone be calling the BON all the time. Secondly shouldn't the BON only talk with the applicant? I would upset to know someone was using my credentials to check for eligibility.

Sorry, if you are competent enough to apply for a license you should be competent enough to do the follow up calls your self.

You must understand that BON change requiremnts from time to time. It's not static.

Once must read the website and make calls to BON to keep updated on each specific BON.
