Hi everyone! Nursing informatics and healthcare informatics are already a big thing overseas. I was just wondering what Filipino nurses think about the changes in nursing informatics and/or healthcare informatics. Do you feel the need that Filipino nurses should be better acquainted and trained in nursing informatics?

is this the same thing as medical transcription?
Hi! Nursing informatics is way much extensive that Medical transcription. It is an emerging part of the nursing practice that integrates the science of nursing, computer technology and information science to enhance the quality of the nursing practice, through improved communication, documentation and efficiency.

I always hear this nursing informatics but I thinks it will take many years before the Filipinos adapt it.

I don't think it is bothering. As long as we know the basics in computer, we'll get through with it. Computer programs are very easy to manipulate, common sense wise. :)

I think Healthcare/hospitals in the philippines will stick with what they have now because implementing thses kinds of systems (i.e: EPIC,CERNER ,Centricity,McKesson, etc) costs millions of dollars for hospitals. So stick to the basics.
