Filipino graduate nurses in ontario, Canada

Published

Hi my name is Greg, im 24 yrs old..

is there anyone here who's from the philippines that can share their experience regarding becoming a r.n here in ontario?

I graduated just this year 2010 in philippines, i was already a canadian citizen before i went back to philippines to take up nursing, thinking that it is more affordable to study back home and just come back here once i graduate.

Now that i am done school i just got back here in ontario a few months ago, i went to CNO to get information regarding what to do to be a R.N in here..they gave me an application form so that they can evaluate me. I am just waiting for my transcript to arrive then it'll take 3months for them to assess me..

I've been wondering if i have to go back to school or will they let me write the crne exam? because i read from a few people in this site that ontario does not recognize our degree and it is only equivalent to rpn in here..

Any information would be appreciated..

Does the CNO require that PRC send verification that you are eligible for registration in the Philippines? I am just asking because that is what the link says

Is there a registration or licensing board in the jurisdiction where you completed your nursing program that can verify that you are eligible to be registered, licensed or certified in that jurisdiction?

Yes, there is a registration or licensing board in my jurisdiction

You have indicated that there is a registration or licensing board in the jurisdiction where you completed your nursing program, but that you have not been registered.

We will require confirmation from the nursing board that you have completed an approved nursing program.

The College will send you a request to provide verification from the registration/licensing body in the jurisdiction in which you were/are registered. When you receive the request, please complete Section 1 of the enclosed form and send the form to the registration/licensing body in the jurisdiction in which you completed your studies.

The form should then be returned directly by the registration/licensing body to the College of Nurses of Ontario. Forms sent directly by the applicant will not be considered.

hello gregorbautista... i'm an rn here in the philippines about to migrate to toronto middle of this year... i've submitted my assessment application last week of nov 2010... have you received your assessment results yet?... how long did it take for CNO to let you know that they received your application?...

if it's alright i'd like to learn of your updates so i can tell how my own application is coming along as well... thanks!

did you take the IELTS already? I'm thinking twice in passing my requirements for assessment because i don't want to waste my money on sending it. what are the chances for passing the assessment?
