May 1, 20179 yr My son is complaining that students that use them are distracting to him. They don't spin them out of sight, most hold them up off their desk to draw attention.
May 1, 20179 yr They're all over our middle schools and getting banned. Which is frustrating because I was about to buy my 7th grader one because of his hyperactivity. No fidget cube for him now.
May 1, 20179 yr My son is complaining that students that use them are distracting to him. They don't spin them out of sight, most hold them up off their desk to draw attention. That was the issue at my school as well and lead to them being banned unless a student has been given one/had one approved by a staff member/has permission through their IEP/504.Students were spinning them in full site and distracting others, as well as it was not having a positive effect on any student's ability to complete work and focus. A few student that do use them properly use them out of site, usually spinning them on their lap under the desk while pen in hand and focusing on the teacher. We still have students that bring them and try to use them, especially during art class and the art classroom is right outside my office. I've asked several students to put them away or they are mine until the end of the day. The whirling noise of the ones that really being marketed has gotten ingrained into my brain. (Our local Five Below is sold out of them; they are that popular now.)
May 1, 20179 yr I have a little section in our schools weekly newsletter and last week I wrote about fidget spinners. My principal didn't want to put it in because I put in the sentence "For students without any diagnosed impairments, the fidget spinners and boxes are more likely to be a distraction for themselves and other students and should remain at home. "She told me it sounded too confrontational

I played with the thing for a few minutes and tossed in onto the sofa and then picked it up later on and found one of my long hairs wound tightly around it.Lets start a pool:How long til' one of us has to us to untangle / unwind / cut one of these babies out of a kids hair?

May 2, 20179 yr All over here. We have not banned them yet but it may happen before the end of the year. My daughter has one and loves it. She is not diagnosed ADHD but never stops moving so this helps her when she's concentrating.
May 2, 20179 yr Experts Bit the bullet!Got one for the youngest and she was over the moon. Strict rule at home-homework first and then play. Cannot take it to school----ever! Break the rules--spinner gone forever! Had a dance program last weekend and she was nervous. Gave her the spinner and she calmed down!No issues so far!
