How many chairs in your clinic?
How many RNS present at a time?
How much staff total?
I was just respodning to a post on another topic and it infuritated me how I was left alone in the dialysis clinic. I really enjoyed working there, but the staffing and shift length was ridiculously unsafe. Just wondering how it is elsewhere.
Amen - I have 230 pts on my list: I am required to see 216 pts/week and then the other 15 only once/month. Yep, even at 15 minutes/pt, I'm booking....ooops didn't figure in the drive time either. lolStill I am very thankful for a job in these tough times.
^^^And that's what is keeping me from taking the final plunge into the ANP vs. PA programs.^^^
Was just talking about this with one of the nephrologists today...
Who goes into medical practice with the dream of throwing an RX at a patient in haste saying, "Here you go. Hope that helps. Next?"
I work in an inner city unit. We have 26 chairs, 2 RNs (although there are 24 patients running before the second RN arrives) and 6 PCTs when all chairs are full. It's a lot of work and I did not feel safe initially; however, after many years of practice, I am only drowning a little now! Lol!

I have a daughter in college right now and a son ready to start, so I don't know if I can handle 3 tuition bills at once.
Plus, at my current position, I make a lot more than the nurse practitioners in my area, so it is kind of senseless to return to school. And I hope to only work for the next 6 years until my kids are done with college and I want to retire!!! Not that I would be at retirement age :), but that is my goal.
