I am still debating between Excelsior and Chamberlain. I have enrolled in Excelsior as a resume booster while I look for new jobs and have signed up for their 1 credit course. I was told today that despite having all classes but ethics and a writing course, I can not start the nursing classes til January. Expository writing is not offered again until September and I can not start nursing classes until that is finished. The advisor said it would probably be two yrs from then on, this seemed like a long time especially with the tempting 10-12 months that Chamberlain offers. Of course I have little to no tuition reimbursement as I may be between jobs. Once you started the nursing component how long did it take you for the RN-BSN from excelsior? Did you work? little kiddos at home?
Lyndaa I am trying to see if I can PM you, but can not figure out how to. What do you mean by self paced writing course? How do you find the class to be? I don't think I wrote a single paper in nursing school (exam heavy) so I am a bit nervous. Was the Bioethics exam through Excelsior, they told me the exam would cost 350. That is a lot of money to risk, although 95.00 is doable. How much studying did you put into the exam? Did you purchase the practice exam through them, and how much did that cost? Did you speak to advisors to help you plan this schedule?
Your mailbox is full......couldn't reply to your last PM.
I am starting Capstone on August 26th =) Final requirement and final class, I'm thrilled! =) A total of 19 months start to finish for me for the BSN is enough! =) Had I taken the Community health nursing exam instead I would be finished next month, but i needed the GPA boosters of taking courses...I applied to South University for my FNP/MSN to start in April next year...so far i'm "provisionally" accepted but they won't fully look at everything until I complete this course in December.

My advisor has not been very helpful at all. During my ASN with EC, I don't even remember speaking to one after my enrollment was complete. Of course, that was 3 years ago but I received most of the information that I needed from the EPN. Even that has changed a great deal now. Anyway, my plan has been mapped out and I'm currently on my final essay with this writing course (final general education requirement). Then the fun really begins!!
