I have gone through so many darn white, uncomfortable nursing shoes I could scream! I am enquiring upon my fellow comrades to offer advise and opinions regarding which shoes (brand, style, etc.)are the best buy. Which are more comfortable, longer lasting for the dollar, etc.
I have kept the padded insert and white shoe polish companies in business! I am thinking of buying some Dansko shoes...they are quite expensive but if they are worth it I won't be complaining .

I think I will try the "change shoe", padded socks and I also will try on some New Balance shoes to see how they feel. I will be ordering some Dansko clogs and will see how that goes . Again, I appreciate your time and input to the ongoing saga of 'dyspedias'...hee hee!
Late shoe nominee: I have had a pair of "after basketball shoes" made by And1 for about 8 weeks now. They are shaped like basketball shoes except the upper is all stretchy cloth, no laces. They expand right along with my feet all the way through the shift.
I got mine for about $45 8 weeks ago. I wear them two or three days weekly, alternating with white air sole Nikes. My cost on the And1's is down to around 25 cents per shoe per comfortable day. I am willing to pay that much for comfortable feet, and the shoes are still in great shape.
I can not sprint to a code in them, but I can jog in them and gently accelerate to a respectable run.
BIRKENSTOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!God bless their makers! I work 3 or 4 12 hr shifts per week, never have to change shoes mid shift. They are spendy on purchase(best ordered through E-bay) but my lastpair lasted over 8 years with only occasional care. I have gone hiking in them, do daily walks in them, wear them rain or shine.
another vote for birks. I have been wearing a pair of birks for three years and they look as good as when I bought them, only more comfortable. The more you wear them the more comfortable they get. They fit like a great pair slippers even after 16 hour on. I would have bought 6 pairs of tennis during the last three years and they would not have been as comfortable. Money well spent.
Thanks for the tip on changing shoe during shift. I keep 3 pair and never wear the same pair two days in a row. Shoes need a rest so they spring back better from the foot compression. They last longer and stay comfortable that way. I have a pair or nurse mates that was discondtinued 3 months after I bought these. and 2 Pair or Rockers. I'm sorry I don't remember the modle they are a clog with a heel strap. all 3 are very comfortable. I have flat feet so I can't wear just anything.
