I hope this is in the right forum. Can someone please advise me of exactly what the RN can delegate to unlicensed persons or refer me to a resource? I won't get technical but it feels like I am being asked to do some illegal/unethical things. someone who can tell me please PM me as I do not want to post on here.
Thanks

If you have concerns, you should contact your supervisor. If you still aren't comfortable, then refer to your state's board of nursing. You should never have to do anything you feel isn't ethical or legal.

What can be delegated depends on the State and the environment and can vary a great deal. In some States next to nothing can be delegate, in other States nearly everything can.

My state board has a position paper on this subject posted online at their website. Look for this information online. If you can't find something that answers your question, then pose that question to your Board, preferably in writing, and they will respond, (or should).

I agree with the above posters. Start by reading your state's Nurse Practice Act. Most states will have one, although there are a few states that don't (in which case there will still be a state law that guides the practice of nurses, even if it is rather loosely, and it will probably be referred to as the Public Health Code or something similar). What are you being asked to delegate?
I checked with my local BON and turns out, I was being asked to do some illegal things. Thanks to all who replied :-)
Seems your instinct was correct. Always a good idea to run questionable practices by the Board.
