Feeling Trapped

Published

Hi all!

So I turned 16 two days ago and I will be taking the nursing entrance exam in a few weeks. I have taken the pre reqs and they've taken a lot out of me. I made some mistakes like taking Micro and anatomy simultaneously and it was a nightmare. :crying2:I could cry just thinking about it because it's hard to keep a B in four classes when two of them are science. I can only imgaine that nursing school will be harder. I don't know if it's cold feet but, I've been searching for a way out very desperately. I volunteer at a hospital and I love what nurses do but, I don't know if I can handle the school. Do I just need a break or should I just stop while i'm at it?

Thank you for your opinions! :)

wow, 16 and already have taken micro and anatomy and pulled off great grades! I think you are not giving yourself enough credit! That is quite the accomplishment!

I say, keep up the good work, and enjoy the rest of high school and apply for nursing school. Its hard work for sure, but its not impossible. You can totally do it.

I completely agree with the above post you need to give yourself more credit! Those classes are very hard for everyone you are not alone there! Taking them at the same time is VERY difficult but this is the case for a lot of people but that definietly doesnt mean your should quit. Nursing school is tough but you learn how to manage and in the end all of your hard work will pay off! If it is your goal you will find a way to make it work and do whatever you have to do. Just know that it is not easy you are going to feel overwhelmed and frustrated and question whether or not you should continue (I know I have done this a couple of times) but if this is your passion you will make it:) Good luck with everything!!

I don't know what to say to give you some advice, but I have a question for you because your age and plans to take an entrance exam don't make sense to me, unless....

Were you homeschooled and graduated early?

Thanks for the reply. I've heard other people say that i'm doing for my age and I guess so.

Thanks for replying. I notice that i've learned to manage my time better than before I started the pre-requisites. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels like this sometimes. I'll take a break because i'm burnt out right now and i'll decide if nursing is right for me.

I understand why you don't have any advice... I should be in high school right now & my biggest worries should be about my date to my junior prom and what sports to play.

I haven't graduated yet but, I was bored in High school (it wasn't challenging enough) so my counselor just sent me to college. I've learned my lesson now because my brain is so tired

That's what you get for being smart!

But seriously, you have plenty of time (unlike some of us). You can certainly afford a break.

Really good work though! I am tremendously impressed.

Take some time off. You only have a few years to be a kid, and the rest of your life to be an adult! :)

I don't mean to sound condescending by saying that. I mean it sincerely, and I would hate to see someone as driven as you drive herself straight into burn-out at 25.

Good luck to you.

I agree, take some time off (be careful though not to take so much time off that you end up losing your focus altogether) , you don't want to go into nursing school burnt out. It's great that you have such drive and the brains to keep up but you are also young and should get to enjoy that time before it's gone.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, that is something to be proud of.
