I've been licensed since July 2016 and have applied to almost 100 positions since the day I found out I passed. I've been on interview after interview and everyone has said no. Almost everyone I graduated with in my program has been hired right off the bat at all of the same hospitals I'm applying to and have interviewed at. I seriously don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have an answer for each interview question I'm asked. I'm professional and polite during the interview. I send thank you notes after the interviews, both e-mail and handwritten. With all of this, I'm still unemployed.
I'm getting really frustrated and angry at this point. I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I can't move out of state because I have no money to do so. I really don't know what to do anymore.

Your in the Long Island NY area? That sounds like it might be a tough place - have you tried nursing homes?

You need to ask your interviewers for input.

Can you contact your school and ask to set up a mock interview? Hopefully that way you can get some feedback on what might be going wrong.

Hello, being in the home health care agency industry i have interviewed many nurses. Here are a few tips.
1. The way you feel will come across. Most people do not realize this and believe they are doing a fantastic job faking it. But its difficult to fake body language. When coming in for an interview get a burst of energy in any way that you can (exercise, coffee, shot of tequila). It sounds like your frustrated with the process and that may show. Make sure you are sitting upright, looking enthusiastic, and believing that you will get this job.
2. Be engaged and listen. Make sure you are coming off as a team player by reacting to interviewer in an interactive way. Ask follow up questions, pretend to care, take notes. Always read up on the organization/hospital before the interview and let them know why your excited to work there.
3. Talk about your love of nursing and the process. Never talk about how many interviews you have had, or the fact that your a bit frustrated. Believe!
