I HAVE TO WONDER IS REALLY WORTH IT. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD, I'M 34 YEARS OLD I'LL BE 38-39YEARS OLD BEFORE I'M READY TO EVEN APPLY TO CRNA SCHOOL.ILL' HAVE MY ADN DEC 2003 AND HOPEFULLY MY BSN DEC 2004, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED MORE THAN ONE YEAR OF CRITICAL CARE. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD BEFORE I GET TO OLD. IS IT WORTH SACRIFICING MY FAMILY. PLEASE HELP.

It seems to me in the cities with several schools, there is not a shortage. Philly, Minneapolis and Birmingham are a few examples that I have heard from program directors that jobs are just not that plentiful. However, go towards the rural areas even a little and there is much more to look at. I think the demand has always been in the rural areas.

Try www.gaswork.com; you can check out job listings by state and several of the posts list salaries.

The New Orleans area is saturated. There are two CRNA programs within an hour of each other and the market has essentially closed for CRNAs. Keep in mind that this area is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. If, for any reason, you're thinking about relocating to Louisiana as a CRNA...don't do it!! Registered Nurses can find jobs on every corner...CRNAs can hang it up!!!
