Feeds Client Who Cannot Feed Self

if i get this skill on my skills test next week, how long should i feed for? i know all the steps, but i don't wanna waste too much time away on this one skill.

I never had to go through this, but I would say until the "patient" is satisfied.

I was the one being "fed" cause my partner picked that skill. She fed me 1 bite and a sip of water. All in all, the skill is actually pretty fast.

okay thanks i wanted to make sure i didn't take too long, but at the same time fully showed the skill & wasn't penalized if i get that one! =)

I think i had that on my test..I think you just offer them a bite of each thing on the plate, and a sip of water. It's not long at all. In my state we were given 5 minutes for each skill (we had 4 skills + handwashing), but you never need that long if you know what you're doing. Good luck..you'll be fine!

thanks! i'm feeling really confident about the exam, especially the written part! :D

The written part was so easy. If you did fine on your tests in class, you'll be fine. It was all basic common sense. Everyone in my group passed the written portion :)

Until you feed all the "fake" food to the patient just say it out loud " ok you have finished everything on your plate" and dont forget to offer a beverage and wipe the mouth and hands
