FED UP CNAS!!!!

Published

ANYBODY THATS A CNA PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY YOUR SO FED UP!!!! BECAUSE I AM!!

They actually give you report before taking off? Other than 'here they are.. go check them' or asking the boss and being gone before you get there?

I must had been in the wrong facilities.

It isn't much of a report, if any. 95% of the time, the CNA says "They're all fine" or "Everybody's good" and then runs like a bat out of Hades. If I want any more info than that, I practically have to handcuff them to the nurses station and beat the information out of them with spare IV tubing and the threats of a 28-french Foley catheter --- UNLUBRICATED ().

:)

Okay, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I DONT OWN A TV AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX YOURS! I don't watch TV because I don't believe in it, I have no idea what channel X is on, and what "game" are you talking about???? Since I am young, residents & supervisors alike think I know how to work any sort of technology. Well I gues they didn't get the memo: I AM NOT A WALKING TV GUIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get upset with me if I can't get your TV, VCR, whatever to work.

OH AND DONT WHISTLE AT ME LIKE I'M A DOG WHEN YOU WANT MY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And P.S. we don't carry AA or AAA batteries in our pockets. If you want some for your remote, you will have to take it up with maintenance or call your family and have them bring you some. And while you're at it, ask THEM to fix your TV.

For some reason there are clocks in like, 2 rooms at my facility. It's so annoying; i never know what time it is. Aren't the residents supposed to be able to look at a clock? Another thing is the eternal darkness. Since it's summer they insist on keeping the blinds closed in every room to save a few pennies on AC. It wreaks havoc on the residents. Personally I would NEVER want to sit in artificial light all day; I NEED natural light or I (1) get depressed and (2) start eating carbs and sweets like there's a famine or something. Back when I first started that was one of the 1st things I thought about-- I noticed that the residents, unless they are extremely independent, never get to go outside, and I remember thinking to myself that I better at least get a window bed in a south facing room or they're going to be wondering why I'm so depressed and start piling on the meds. I live in a part of the country where SAD is common and I feel really bad for the people who are affected by it who can't even soak up some sun from a window.

I do not know how to fix your cell phone. Stop asking.

Is it really necessary to call out at least twice a month? Management obviously doesn't care, and I'm so sick of working short.

Geez, I don't know whether to be happy :smokin: or sad :bluecry1: that's it's about the same wherever you work.

Or be late, go home early, etc. We have one who calls off for the most BS reasons, and she can't even get her story straight. She'll tell one of us she had a tummy ache and another person that she didn't come in because her car broke down. And on that note- a broken car is not an excuse, especially when you've just had 2 days off and you KNEW your car was broken. Get a ride! I'll drive you! When my car was broken down my coworkers did it for me...

Also, this girl has to "set the stage" for calling off/leaving early by complaining that she "doesn't feel well" all day. Her "symptoms" are always really vague and again, she can't get her story straight. Geez if I ran home every time I didn't feel like working I'd be flat broke!

At our facility, there's a limit to how many call-ins you are allowed before you get canned, I'm not exactly sure the limit is. You get written up for call-ins even if it's for illness or a death in the family, etc. I've worked sick and coughing all over the place many a time because I can't stand calling in.

We have the same thing. These people just call off as many times as they are allowed and then suddenly their immune systems improve dramatically when they are on the verge of getting fired.

Oh you know what else I don't like? When someone needs help with something, and they run up and down the hallway yelling your name. Then when you drop what you're doing thinking it's an emergency or something all they want is to take someone for a walk (someone on their assignment of course). It's like, are you serious?

The one thing I'm beyond fed up with is working short, I understand sometimes thing happen but I work second shift in LTC and it seems as though every time I work we are working short staffed. Being second shift administration leaves about an hour into our shift, activities finish up, and we are left with 4 LNAs and 2 RNs in our three floor facility. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but we've been getting so many new residents who are full care and take up enormous amounts of time that its impossible to get everyone in to bed before we are supposed to start toileting again at 9. You would think the logical thing to do would be to hire more people for second shift, but that isn't happening.

Also, our Holiday policy is that part time and per diem employees must work one (of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) and do not receive holiday pay, full time is required to work two holidays and I believe they do receive holiday pay. I worked on Thanksgiving, today I got called asking if I could come in to work because they only had 3 of 5 LNAs today. This weekend is supposed to be my weekend off as well and I already agreed to work tomorrow for someone who is out of town for the holiday. Needless to say I am not going into work, actually I've been feeling ill all day, but what bothers me the most is that if there was only three people scheduled this problem should have been addressed when the schedule came out five weeks ago, not the day of.
