February 2020 Texas Health Resources New Grad Residency Program

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the DWF area. I moved from Florida after graduating with an ASN back in May, passed boards on July 17th, and I'm now desperately trying to find a job.

I didn't know residencies opened up here months in advance, and that you could apply with no license or even graduating first. So I now feel behind, but hopeful that I can score a New Grad position.

But anyway, has any of you applied to this one in particular? Have you heard anything back from them? It's about to be a month since I applied, and my application is still in review...according to the website, I hope that's a good sign as I'd really love to work for THR.

Let me know, let's share this journey together ?

THR is pretty strict now about only hiring BSN prepared nurses into new grad residencies, as are the vast majority of DFW hospitals. You have an uphill climb before you, unfortunately. This is a tough area of the country to find a new grad residency placement even if you have your BSN. With an ASN, it will be hard. You will want to expand your search to include SNF, LTACH, jail (through Parkland Hospital System), home health, schools and the like. Good luck!

I also applied for Kindred positions as they're a long-term care hospital, but they haven't gotten back to me. I will start looking into SNF. Thanks for replying ?
