Fear of failing? reason to not enter nursing program?

Nurses General Nursing

I really would love to be a nurse but I feel I am not smart enough to be a nurse or pass the courses so I am holding myself back.

As you might have read from my previous post, I am a single person and so I cannot just quit work to go to school so that worries me all the more.

I am afraid I won't make it in the program and if I don't make it it means I am dumb and it will make me a failure, I will have the failure on my transcript, and people will frown upon my inability to succeed.

Should I let the fear of failure stop me or should I try it? Is being afraid I will fail in itself a sign I should not apply?

What are your life skills?

How do you handle stress?

What drives you?

Can you name one realistic aspect of nursing that you'd like to do for a living despite adverse conditions?

Can you name one realistic negative aspect of nursing and how your skills will help you deal with it?

Are you willing to get really uncomfortable to deal with the good and the bad?

Hi InfoFeak411. I am a single parent of two, and I have tried on many occassions to go to nursing school. I too feared failure and would let that fear contol me. the last go around Ionly had four months until graduation and too many obstacles one after another plus I received a 78 in pharm math and was dismissed after jumping through too many hoops and then told a week later I can return. I was not working and begging family and so called friends to please help me.I was kicked in the stomach too many times BUT after crying, praying it hit me.. please remember this for the rest of your life.. THE INNER ME IS THE ENEMY! I have found I love nursing I;m good at nursing and I fit.. nursing is my passion, and I just made up my mind to try again! FYI you can work but not full time. get a flow going for you because you truly need to dedicate 2-3 hours of studying. GO for what you want and OWN it, you can do it. being faced with divorce, no support, worrying everyday, a child kicked out of dycare, equals sabatoage(sp). Good luck I know you can do it.. now I need to start studying foe HESI A2 test..take care

know if you fail, this too shall pass. then get up study and try again..Good Luck

THE INNER ME IS THE ENEMY!

I LOVE this!!! Good luck!
