Applications are open for FAU's January 2015 enrollment date! With just over 4 months until the deadline and 8 months to the start of the program, now seemed like as good a time as any to start a forum to ask questions, relay information, and support possible future classmates.
To start off, I was wondering if any one knew if they normally offer a ABSN program that begins in the Spring. I had only heard of admittance to the Summer semester at the beginning of May.
Did anyone else get an email stating that we had to accepted into the the school first before getting accepted into the nursing program? I'm pretty sure I got my acceptance into the undergrad school part. Maybe it was just a mass email.
I check my email numerous times every day.. in fact, I downloaded the gmail app to my phone... bad idea because I can't stop checking!
Definitely a strange interview format.. not too sure how I felt about it. I just can't believe how long this whole process has been. From making us wait until October to hear about interviews, now this taking 2-3 weeks, it's torture! I feel for you out-of-staters :/
I'd also be surprised if they kept to only admitting 40 accelerated students, because there were about 20/interview time slot, and I'm guessing there were at least 5 interview times per day, and two days of it, which is new this year. In the past, they've interviewed 80 students, but there had to be much more interviews this year, which makes me wonder if they'll take more than 40. Who knows.
Okay I didn't realize there were only two time slots per day, that makes more sense now. Because I went Friday at 9:30, and there were a ton of people in the lobby waiting for their interviews, not sure for what time, but it had to be around 11 am, maybe 11:30. And then I've heard people had 1 pm interviews too, which is why I thought there were multiple times for the two days.
This is the first year that FAU is doing a January start date and there were some behind-the-scenes administration changes. They definitely have to iron out some kinks but we are the lab mice in this experiment. I think they send that email because people forget that they have to fill out two applications for the school (though I really wish FAU would stop that because its super redundant and a waste of money).
I am super nervous. I also got into UM's accelerated and Nova's traditional so I'm just waiting on FAU so I can make my decision. I'm an FAU alum and I live in the area so continuing at FAU would be so ideal. THIS WAIT IS TORTURE
