Anybody applying to FAMU's nursing program for the spring?
Licensing exam failure rate rises in Fla.The opening of new, unaccredited nursing schools in Florida has been followed by decreases in passage rates for the state's licensing exam. "It's not a good solution if you don't have quality programs," Florida Nurses Association Executive Director Willa Fuller said.Florida's overall passage rates for students graduating with an associate's degree in nursing has dropped from 86 percent in 2009 to 76 percent last year.Schools that fail to meet the passing rate requirement for two years in a row are placed on probation, and if they don't improve a year later, the state Board of Nursing has the authority to close them.
Most of the schools in danger are newer for-profit schools, although some long-established state-run schools could be affected, including the Belle Glade campus of Palm Beach State College and Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.
Many of the programs with dismal passing rates are in South Florida including: Censa Miami Institute in Hialeah Gardens (12 percent); Dade Medical College in Hollywood (18 percent); Med-Life Institute in West Palm Beach (18 percent); and Hope College of Arts & Sciences in Pompano Beach (20 percent).
As of June, 13 schools with poor passage rates have closed or shut down their nursing programs, according to the report, and several others have closed since then.
As former faculty, I have never heard of such low pass rates. It is unbelievable.

I would urge you to be cautious with this program.
