I moved from Pennsylvania to Delaware three months ago, I applied to several jobs with no success although I meet all qualifications for the jobs that I have applied to. Every job that I interviewede for offerd me PRN or part time. It appears to me that the jobs have no intentions of hiring people for full time employment although they advertise for full time. They expect you to be desperate enough to take whatever they have to offer. Most jobs are not hiring full time to avoid paying health insurance so I began to tell them that I waive my health insurance option on my reume because I am covered by my wife. Can anyone else relate to my experiences?

Yes. I was hired by two employers last year and have yet to work one day for either of them. Employers continue to run ads for new employees but they do not have work for whoever it is that they hire. One of those that hired me last year will occasionally call me at nine or ten o'clock at night trying to get me to work a night shift for someone who called off at the last minute. I don't call that work. I applied for full time or part time work, not on call, every four months or so. It is very discouraging.

I'm confused as to why this is a problem if you don't need the health benefits anyway? Are you sure there wouldn't be enough hours available? At both my jobs I could work every single day if I wanted to. FIWW, most places in my area will give health benefits for 20+ hours a week.

By always having an ad, they always have nurses available to work on short notice in case they loose someone.

I figured out that the one employer was only collecting phone numbers to call when they had a shift that none of their regular employees would fill. But their ad did not say that they were only collecting phone numbers and they didn't make mention of this during the hiring process or orientation. I have no idea what the other employer's intentions were, because they don't even bother calling for a last minute call off and when I approach them about getting work, I have to remind them that they hired me, and they promptly tell me they have no work. I feel I wasted my time and effort with both of these employers.
