Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. :( I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

Still on the waitlist. Wish they'd let us know how many there are on the list

I guess at this point is waiting time.. wonder how many were on the waiting list.. and well is just now waiting to see if more students decide for another school

From previous threads I've read that they are not able to disclose how many people are on the waitlist or where you are on it

I see .. I guess is just waiting more us

Hey J1 here, I just wanted to say congrats to all of you will start at UT Health this fall! You will love it! It is going to seem like a roller coaster ride during these next few months while you are waiting and getting all your things ready. Couple of pointers: 1) once you get the ok to start getting vaccinations/titers, drug test, background...etc do it. There are all these things to do before classes start and process can be slowed down if you put it off. 2) we didn't find out about financial aid until right before deadline to register for class. If you are relying on aid, have a backup so you can start first day. We are still waiting on scholarships....only several have been issued so far. 3) Enjoy your summer! Nursing school is awesome but busy! Enjoy this time you have now because once you strart the next 15 months will be packed! Not to scare you just mentally prepare you. Upperclassmen always willing to help! Just ask! Congrats again and can't wait for you to start!

Thank you. I am excited to start this fall. I have started my pre-enrollment requirements already and you are right, some takes time. I have 2 holds in my account. The IDM and EValue. They will take off the IDM hold when I go to the Student Admitted Day this Friday. I have to wait for the current flu shot, so that I could upload all the documents on EValue.

In addition, are you selling any of your J1 books? Do all the books come with lab manual? Thanks upperclassmen for the help.

You will get a lot of good info on admin day! I am currently not selling my books yet but many of us will closer to end of semester and before you begin. Check out the fb classified page, think someone posted it recently on here. Only lab manual you need is for Health Assessment class. Hope this helps. :)

J2 here! Anyone have any questions, feel free to ask!

I'm taking my hesi and I would love some advice on how to have maximum success, such as what resources will help more and study tips

Honestly HESI is not that bad. I used an app called pocket prep, I believe it was purple because there's several apps. And I used one book it was the McGraw-Hill HESI practice book and it had like three practice exams and that help give me an idea of like what to expect for vocab and just an idea of how to time myself so you don't run out of time specially with the reading or math depending on if those slow you down. everyone's different but just practice timing yourself and take a few practice test but the app was helpful, I just would do it while standing in line somewhere, a few questions here and there and did pretty well but that was just me. Hope this helps, good luck í ¼í½€

Hi y'all, I've been following a few UTHealth threads for awhile but now I'm finally commenting! I'm finishing my prereqs at a community college and applying for Summer 2018! Just a quick question since I'm completely new at this, I know you can take HESI A2 at Lonestar (my case North Harris), but under the testing ticket it says they're "not equipped to send official reports to any school outside the LSC system" so.. I'm not sure if I should choose a different place but they offer all the sections for UTHealth. Some input would be appreciated, thank you :)

That's just saying that Lone Star itself can't send your records. I did the same thing, you just have to contact Elsevier and they do it for you. Or take the test under the schools code instead

Hello. I'm applied for this fall and got waitlisted planning to reapply for spring 2018. Yes you can can take at lone star which please do is way cheaper than taking at the other proctored locations one mistake I did and payed the price literally. You'll just have to elsevier which is who administer the Hesi to send to UT which I think you pay $10 or $15 . Hope this helps.
