Today a student had a fall slipped on water and hurt her knee, unable to walk she was wheeled to the health office after doing some examination student was able to bend leg no swelling at that moment but sensitive to touch and in pain, parents were contacted and are 2 hours away, we cannot give any medication, elevated leg, applied ice, offered emergency services to be able to administer meds for pain or swelling they denied because they didnt want there insurance billed.

So i have a kinder in my office in pain with a now swollen knee.

Advice Suggestions?

Reminds me of when I was 9 and fell off my bike in the park and broke my ankle. It was around 4 pm and I was a total latch-key kid. I was with a friend and she ran several blocks home to tell her stepdad who then carried me to their car and drove me to the nearest hospital. I remember they couldn't stay there with me and my mom was out of her office in meetings (this was WAY before cell phone days, 1982 actually). So there I sat in the Emergency room of the local community hospital in a wheel chair in excruciating pain and no one would touch me b/c they could not get consent. It was awful. My mother eventually showed up around 7 pm and xrays confirmed it was fractured.
