Fall 2020 Piedmont RN Residency

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hi everyone!

I was hoping to get to know some people who are applying/ accepted offers at Piedmont for the fall new grad program in Atlanta. I had an interview with them two days ago and was offered a few of the cardiac progressive care units. Woohoo! I am from Colorado and will be moving to Atlanta in September before the residency program starts.

Does anyone know what residency schedule is like for Piedmont? Are we in the classroom everyday? Or are we there 3 days and doing 12hr shifts (class and clinical)?

I’m not sure, my schedule just says to leave the first week open after orientation. Kind of hoping for 3 12s though!

Is anyone else on the cardiopulmonary progressive care unit?

I will be working in the CVICU as well! Looking forward to start!

Awesome!! See you Monday!

Hey guys!

I just moved here from Ohio after graduating my ADN program at the end of September. I had a phone screening with a recruiter from Piedmont today and was scheduled an interview at Piedmont Fayette for the OR for the Spring 2021 cohort. The OR is my dream job. Any tips for my interview? Thank you!

How did it go?? I have a phone call with the recruiter tomorrow!

So far I’m loving it! Great place to work ?

I  have an interview with Piedmont Atlanta (Cardiac & Medical Surgical) for an in-person interview and coming from Texas.

Anyone have any Residency Interview tips?

Its for Tele/PCU, Cardiopulmonary PCU, Cardiac step-down.

Congrats! I would say to really nail down your answer to the question “tell us about yourself” there are some great Youtube videos about how to answer this questions correctly and make a great first impression.

Also prepare for some behavioral questions. Like name a time when you had a conflict with another employee or a manager and why you choose these units? Things like that. Using the STAR format to answer questions like this helps you stay to the point and answer correctly (situation, task, action taken, and result). I went and found a ton of random behavioral questions on the internet and then wrote answers to them. That way you have a base answer for different types of questions and you can tailor the answer to met what it is they ask exactly.

Develop a few questions to ask them. Ask about why they like Piedmont, ask about the program and show that you know the company’s mission.

If you are interested in continuing education ask about what Piedmont has to offer. If they choose you they want to make an investment into someone who cares and wants to grow/learn.

Then review concepts like Stroke, MI, Infection, HF. What are the basic things you are going to look out for and what you would do. For example your pt develops chest pain, what are your first steps?

You'll do great!
