Hello ladies! (and gents)
I think those of us who are going to PCC starting in fiall of 2010 should have an icebreaker event or two over the summer. With all the other pressures that we will be facing in the fall the "new kid" stress is at least one thing we can avoid eh?
Anyone have any suggestions? I have a backyard near PCC with lots of green space for a BBQ/Bocci Ball tournament toward the end of the summer but it doesn't get really dry (i,e. not swampy grass) until mid to late July.
It might also be fun to get a kickball game together?

I'm totally down! I don't really play sports but I love to BBQ and socialize! And I would be interested in trying to play, but you guys have to promise not to laugh! I can bring some food for sure, my boyfriend works for Reser's so I can get all the potato salad and salsa I can stomach lol.
I am also interested in doing some A&P review over the summer, maybe do some study groups? I took it awhile ago and need to be refreshed and ready! Anyone else?
I am SOOOOO EXCITED!
Kind of off topic, but does anyone know any good, affordable daycares that are close to campus besides the one on campus? I am looking for one for my 2 year old. :-P

I would love to do A & P review, still have all my notes and labs etc. I have an extremely conveniently located base of operations for these things being near PCC Sylvania and my allegiance can be purchased with Salsa!!
Bocci isn't really a sport.. it is more like lawn bowling! I have the perfect yard for it because we have a half orchard and garden boxes that make good obstacles.
SO SO SO excited!! I can barely focus on finishing up my classes this term - I have one final left and no remaining excuses not to study.

i'm in. i definitely need an a & p refresher and bocci ball would be fun! let me know when and where.
p.s. i make a mean guacamole. ;-)
I'm excited to get this stuff going! Hey, is anyone taking classes this summer, or has anyone NOT taken Stats and Wri 227? I also need another year of Spanish (all of these for the bachelor's). I talked to Jan in the Nursing office today about my Financial Aid and she was saying that Financial Aid won't pay for these classes while I'm in the program, only Nursing courses for PCC's program. I do need to file for an extension soon since I have taken all my pre-req's at PCC and I wonder if this is why?
I surely can't be the only one in this situation...it seems that they are a little disorganized at the office :-) It's to be expected but I'm a little worried about the information relay. Anyone else in this situation or know what's up?
If I end up taking Wri and Stats this summer anyone else taking them as well?
i'm done with stats, but i haven't taken WR 227 yet... i didn't know that was a requirement for the bachelor's. do you happen to know if that kind of info is anywhere online? i'd also like to find out more about how financial aid works for the nursing program. lots of questions...
i'm actually taking an intensive spanish class (first year) at psu this summer. i don't think i need it for the bachelor's since i took two years of spanish in high school, but i'd like to eventually become fluent.
It is my understanding that you take WR123 OR 224. I am taking stats now, my final is monday. I am taking this summer off, it will be the first (and last) in this whole process.
I might take the CNA 2 class in August if a spot opens up though. I think if I can get on PT as a CNA 2 while I am in school then I can more easily move into a nursing job when I graduate. Tuition assistance would be nice also... :)
As for financial aid students have said that you have to take a gen ed class to maintain your FT status but I suspect there will be info in the packet they are sending out in a few weeks... And never trust the advisors on matter of Financial Aid!!
I am going to take ASL I and II over the next few years, then use III and IV at WOU for 12 of my 15 upper division creds for BSN.
I suppose I have revealed enough of my master plan for now!
Sorry, I meant Writing 224, it was late and I was studying for my 111 final :-)
So I wanted to let you all know that I spoke to the financial aid coordinator for the Nursing Program and that information was false. That would only apply if you filed a time frame extension, which I will have to do in 2011-2012. But if you have enough credits you will be just fine, they will pay your gen ed requirements :-)
So Stats and Writing this summer it is! Dang, I was looking forward to taking a term off...oh well. :-)

So why not take Stats and Writing as your gen ed credits fall and winter then? What else are you going to take to round out your full time status? Or are you only taking PT status?
you were actually right about the course number: WR 227 (not WR 224). i looked it up on ocne's website. just thought i'd let you know you weren't so out of it when you wrote it. ;-)
LOL...Actually I went to PCC today and found out I don't need to take 227 since I took 121 and 122 @ 4 cr each so I'm good. I also thought I needed more Foreign Language but apparently I'm done. I knew this all a long time ago but totally spaced it in the craziness of getting accepted!
And here's some great news! The first year we will be taking anywhere from 12-16 credits each term, the second year it's only 9 credits each term. HOWEVER-9 credits in the Nursing Program is considered Full-time according to Financial aid-and we will be funded as such! So all that panic for nothing lol! I was just worried about not getting my loans to pay for daycare so all is well in my world now :-)
Did anyone else know that, was I the only one that didn't? :-)
Now that I'm done freaking out for nothing..I will be taking Stats this summer, anyone else? And when do we want to plan this BBQ? I think its a great idea to celebrate our acceptance as well as break the ice!
I am going to mexico on friday for a week the weekend of the 26th-27th would be the earliest I could BBQ - that is about how long it will take for my yard to be dry, and we should have our little information bomb from PCC by then so we could conceivably all scratch our heads and pore over it together.
I appreciate the info that you gathered for us!! I am now wondering where I am going to get my 2 years of foreign language + 15 upper level classes in the next three years without losing my mind. I am however going to commit to not stress about it until I receive my packet.
