Nursing program
Published
Hello, I am currently a student at Suffolk county community college preparing to apply for the nursing program for fall 2021 start. I figured I would start this early since the deadline was extended to March 1st 2021. I am preparing to take the TEAS in December most of my prerequisites are finished with a grade of A and one B. If anyone has some great tips on how to score in the 80s and 90s feel free to share. I wish everyone the best of luck.

You’re welcome! If it is this week, I’m thinking more like Friday. Because they did say possibly this week. Saturday and Sunday they won’t be in the office ,most likely, because it is the weekend. So I’m thinking, maybe don’t get too hopeful for a response on those days. So, maybe Friday? I don’t feel like we will know tomorrow or Thursday. Honestly, I feel like they are going to use as much time as they can to decide. I wish it was sooner though, same as everyone else. The latest we will know will probably be Friday, April 23rd. We’re all in it together. I know it’s tough because I already have been through an LPN program and passed my boards. Honestly, the whole experience up until you pass your boards is all nerves, all the time. So, I understand and I’m right here with you.
I think we are all really lucky to know about this forum and have it because I feel like a lot of people probably have no idea what is going on or even that acceptance/rejection letters will be sent via email. So thank you to the group for all the support and information! I feel not so alone in all of this because of all of you.
Awww thank you, you should have applied. Remember for next time: it’s always a no unless you try. I hope you get in next time!! Honestly, I hope everyone here gets in. That would be amazing because then we can all be friends on campus and future colleagues. It will break my heart if not everyone here gets accepted. I feel like everyone here will be an amazing nurse one day because we have all taken turns helping each other through this. To care is already half of what it is to be a nurse. Whatever happens, I hope no one in this group ever gives up and keeps trying. I’m personally trying to stay positive, but I know a lot of other people want this too. This month has been a trip.
I was looking into either SUNY Farmingdale or SUNY Delhi to continue my BSN. I did not apply to Stony Brook Nursing first...personal choice.
We have not yet spoke about how to gain employment but some professors mention what hospitals take an ASN while you work toward your BSN. (Stony Brook is one of them)
I would try to get as many of the supplemental classes done prior to admission...It really will ease your transition into the program and makes it a much lighter work load just focusing on the nursing classes. So I would recommend you take a Summer class pre req if it is offered.
The schedule is different every semester so I just planned mine around my work schedule. I had to tweak my work schedule a little too being that there are only so many options for when classes are.
Also when I was admitted I never received an email from admissions. I got a letter in the mail. There were rumors that an email would be sent. But the only email you get is after you're admitted from the professors instructing you on what's next.
