Haven't seen a forum for the upcoming semester yet and was hoping to see if anyone else has applied?

Wouldn't it be relevant if it's all a pool/lottery

Hey @sheshappy! What should we expect entering the program at Pierce and do you have any survival tips for first semester students? I'm nervous and excited at the same time. LOL
Excited is definitely something you should be! It's okay to be nervous everybody is.
My advice: Just understand that being in the nursing program is unlike any type of classes you are used to taking. Being in the nursing program is truly demanding, but completely doable if it's something that you want and put your all in.
The first semester is probably one of the more challenging semesters, in my opinion, not to scare you. But it's because everything is so new.... the style of learning, the type of exams taken, and in first semester you will have four classes which is not like the rest of the program.
I would recommend using your laptop to take notes trying to write down lectures just isn't that efficient with all of the information that the professor's go over during that time.
Make friends! Trust me you guys will all need each other and rely on each other.
I highly recommend reading before the semester starts. I remember first semester the professors sent out the syllabus a few weeks in advance. I would buy the books and start your reading to get ahead so that you don't get overwhelmed with all the chapters that need to be read when the semester starts.
So in a nutshell just come in the program ready to devote your time to your studies (reading, watching videos) and you honestly will get through it.
A few sites I recommend for great videos are: osmosis, Khan Academy, and RegisteredNurseRN on youtube
Goodluck!!!
How do you keep up with all the readings?
Sorry for the late response. I think as simple as it may sound, the best way to keep up with the reading is to not get behind and read ahead. Make sure that whatever chapters are assigned for the week you read them before the week is over. It's also really helpful to read the chapters before lecture because then you already know what you had trouble processing and can ask questions in class and follow along easier, however it's not always possible due to having plenty of other things to focus on.
If you are wondering if you need to read...you do! Flashcards are highly recommended. I hope all of you who are in first semester are trying to adjust to the demand, just take a deep breath, breathe, the semester is going to fly by and you will all be just fine, just focus. If you have any super particular questions feel free to send me a private message.
