Fall 2014 lonestar north harris nursing students

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have been accepted and are attending NH in July! I am soooo excited to get started! I will be attending the May 15th orientation. Let's all help and encourage each other as we start this crazy journey!

I can not even wait to get started on everything and meet everyone!:)

I will be going to the may 15th info session because I honestly can't wait any longer!

I am not cpr certified yet and I was hoping someone knew of a place closer to the humble/kingwood area?

I already paid for the random drug test. And I would already have process the fingerprinting/background check but my 11 month old is asleep and the printer wakes her up! You only have to do the declaratory order if you have had any trouble with the law, other wise just follow the info on the fast pass for BON which is in the same link as the DO info. You pay for it and go get your fingerprints done and it automatically process the background check and when everything comes back clear the BON will mail you the blue card! (me friend just did all of this for Montgomery's LVN program, so she was a major help) Hope that sort of clears up some questions.

Good luck everyone and I'm happy to have such an energetic and awesome group to work with in the near future, looking forward to meeting everyone soon!:)

Ok so bc it seems like you know what you are doing.... would you mind telling me exactly what to do for the background check? I don't need the DO. I'm just really confused?

In that link that you clicked on to read about the DO on page 10 it says fast pass apps. residing in texas BON, it talks about going to IdentoGO Home, basically follow what that paper says and it lets you pick an appt time and place to get your fingerprints taking, as long as you have a clear background nothing else has to be done and in about a month you will get your blue card in the mail:)

I do not recommend the Brighton Academy. I pulled my son out the first week he was there. He hated it. I think because it was so crowded. They wouldn't even give me a partial refund either.

I am so glad I'm not the only one crazy enough to do the ADN program with a little one at home!

I have a 20 month old and a 7 month old! I know this is gonna be crazy lol

Hello Everyone! I'm excited and can't wait to get started. Congratulations to everyone. I've already paid for my random drug screening and made my appointment for fingerprinting because I think I read somewhere today that they need to be "arranged" by May 2nd?? I think. Well see you all on May 15th or July 28th..... ;)) yay!!

Ya'll are not alone at all! I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old and will continue to work as a Nurse Tech PRN while in school. We will all get through this together and two years from now we will be stressing over taking the NCLEX.

Do y'all know where I can find childcare for the clinical days? I don't have any family. It's just me and my son.

Redhen,

There are a few places in Montgomery, there is a Children's Universe on 105 and McCaleb road and then there is the ABC Academy off of 105 and Freeport rd. I have heard good things about both of them.

I know the feeling y'all! I have a three and four year old. We can do this!

Redhen there is also a daycare on campus run by the YMCA if you want to check that out.

If finances are an issue for anyone I know Texas Workforce Solutions offers a pretty extensive scholarship helping with everything from uniforms to gas cards to child care.... I put my application in with them yesterday when I received my acceptance email!!
