Hello All
I am surprised how there is no thread created for East Bay applicants.
Hmmm...wondering why is that!
Anyway, I am a transfer student and here are my stats...
GPA:4
TEAS:84%
Have those points for healthcare experience.
Please share yours so we can all get an idea of where we stand :)
Are all of the books and supplies that we get during orientation going to cover the whole school year?
The books in the book bundles will cover you for the first year and a few books carry onto the 2nd year with some rotations like periop, geriatrics, and medical.
There's other things like kaplan, simchart, SLS, all of these things are online products/sources. But you'll get more info about it at orientation.
Did you go? How was it? Is is mandatory?
I did not go mainly because I worked a double last night... but also because I attended an open session as well as a CSUEB open house last year. The upcoming nursing orientation is mandatory but that won't be for several weeks. I'm assuming that we will get everything we need at that meeting. I got my official admission letter from the nursing department last week and am just waiting for the next order.

I did too. Now just waiting for the mid-june email to receive instructions on upcoming stuff.
What do you all think about current job opportunities in bay area for fresh RN grads?

As long as a new grad is willing to apply to as many areas as possible and not be picky, then I believe there is hope. I have friends who graduated (within last 5 years) from private schools who took work in LTC, public heath, and even ICU in Bay Area. As for me, I am working as a CNA for now so I can put "healthcare experience" on my resume, but don't know how long that will last once classes start.
I received the admission letter last week, too.
I'm curious if I should sign up for the July 1st orientation. It's what is recommended on my MyCSUEB account at the moment. Does anyone know when our nursing orientation is? Or when they'll let us know? I kinda have to let my job know in advance.

I just called the nursing department and they said do not go to the July 1st health Science orientation. They will be sending us information this month and as of now dates have not been determined for a nursing orientation. I need to let work know too...
Anyone know which are the hospitals which will come for clinical rotations at CSUEB?
I would love to answer this question for you and for other potential CSUEB nursing students, but according to our student handbook, we can "not discuss or post any information about faculty, peers, patients, family members, or any clinical facility on any electronic venue." I'm assuming that means listing clinical sites as well.
They also differ between the Hayward and Concord campuses and may change depending upon availability. I recommend contacting the nursing office for the campus you requested and asking them directly.

Concord graduates 1 quarter earlier than Hayward. During the 3rd year they take classes in the summer.
