Hey y'all,
I submitted my application for the city college ADN program earlier this year and since it is May, I figured I would start this topic for when the admissions decisions come back in a few weeks! I hope I get in, I would be so happy if I did.
Well, I took my paperwork over to Truman today.....however, I'm kind of freaking out. At the end of May I injured my right shoulder. The pain was so intense that I couldn't move my shoulder AT ALL and I was prescribed Vicodin and Valium. Although I only took the medicine for 2 days, they still showed up on my drug test . I mean, I literally have full bottles of the stuff smh. Anywho, I was reading the ccc nursing requirements, and it specifically states that "ALL RESULTS MUST BE NEGATIVE". Even though my Dr wrote a statement verifying the temporary use of the medications, I still think I'm screwed......(le sigh) Anyone else has any updates?
Hey. You should have send in your results to the lab to get the GC/MS done. They will be able to tell the difference between drugs and medicine that way. Find out you still have some time and you can always tell that to the administrator that you will do that to better proof that it was medication vs real drugs. But maybe it won't be needed ask the administrator.
Thanks for your reply...you've given me hope! Do you have a number for the nursing department where someone actually answers the phone lol? I've tried to call numerous times concerning the matter and no one answered. I even sent an email to the assistant Dean before I took the drug test informing her that there may be a slight chance that I could fail the drug screen because of the isolated injury that I experienced as well as which medications I were prescribed....again, no response....I'll try to call early in the morning abd if no one answers, I guess I'll go back up there and try to talk to someone about the situation....
Yeah, email the person Christa who sent out about the medical requirements. No one at the nursing department in my experience ever answers the phone but Christa will respond the next day. I started trying to get all my reqs done way too last minute but will get them all done in time I hope. Good luck!
Hey guys, just a quick update...
I called and actually got through to one of the clinical coordinators and she personally spoke to the Assoc. Dean of Nursing regarding my situation and said that I could take another drug test (in order to prove that I am no longer taking the medication). So, thanks Bratko90 and Vericuester for your well wishes! Everything worked out! Vericuester, I'm sure you'll be just fine! Do you have all of your titers completed?
I should be getting all the results tomorrow! I have to get a second chickenpox titer but getting the vaccine will at least be enough so I can register. I had to have my drug test resent to another lab because the doctor's office didn't know what the last two non-7 panel things were but I have faith that my doctor's office will turn it around. It's just been a pain going there three times the past few weeks but hopefully tomorrow is the last time!
Trust me, I completely understand! I've been to my Dr. office almost everyday for the last 2 and half weeks in order to get everything done on time and to make sure that all the paperwork was being completed properly. This whole process has been a pain, but it's definitely well worth it! I'm so excited and I can't wait for orientation. Now all that's left is for me is to get retainers for my piercings and sleeves to cover my tattoos (although I really wish that I didn't have to do so...).
Woohoo! I got all my stuff done in time as I expected would happen. Ha, I feel you on that stuff. I only have one tattoo so far which is easy to cover up and have been trying to grow my hair out for this entire year to cover the two helix piercings I have. I will have to get some retainers too. Are people interested in joining a FB group for this class? I will make a page if people want to join or maybe people will find out on FB naturally!
