Fall 2017 Century College (or MANE) Applicants out there?

Published

I dropped off my application for the fall 2017 (MANE) Century College nursing program. Anyone else? Let's start a conversation here about getting in!

Accepted at Inver (only place I applied) with a 12.7. We should definitely start an Inver FB page!!

IN AT NHCC!!!!!!!! 11.6 score... I'm shaking with happiness. :')
yaya another classmate ! congrats !

I only applied to Inver due to logistics with daycare and whatnot. I ended up #7 on the waitlist with an 11.68. Hopefully I still get in. Anyone have a guess as to how many people typically get off the wait list?

Berg1444 I think you will get in! So many people give up their spots because they apply at multiple schools. It's probably a given that you will get in! I too applied at only one (Century). With little kids it's harder to drive all over the place.

I got in st NHCC, Century, Inver Hills and MCTC (non-mane). I'm leaning toward NHCC. I just went to visit it and the new biosciences bldg is beautiful! I've been taking all my courses at Century, but I'm not impressed with their nursing lab areas etc. Not sure what I'm going to do yet?!! Inver Hills is probably out for me since I live the farthest from that school.

Tashi17 is Century not very nice? I've only seen the student center. Never thought about looking at the facilities. Are they just old looking?

Sorry for posting this twice. I tried to edit a word - now I can't delete one. Oh well

Yes the facilities are a little outdated. Keep in mind that NHCC has a fancy new $23 million dollar building. A lot of the machines you will learn on (including their medication admin system) are state-of-the-art TODAY but realize that technology is always a moving target. Nursing school isn't about teaching you how to learn a particular program or machine since that will change everywhere you work. I think I'm going to choose North Hennepin for more than just the facilities . . . I like the way the schedule is looking as well. There are trade-offs with every program.

So I was also accepted at Minneapolis Community & Technical College. Their BSN partnership is with Augsburg College. One of the directors told me that they decided to opt out of joining MANE because they had just overhauled their curriculum and didn't want to put students through even more changes. I love the idea of being in an urban area for school - close to restaurants, yoga studios (lol) etc. but I don't know much about their program and I don't see much posted here about them. I do know that they have some of the largest lab space in MN and they are one of the only programs that does some of the clinicals at Children's Hospitals. Any thoughts?!

Hi. Sorry I didn't post sooner. My acceptance to century came exactly March 15 with 11.93. I bet the waitlisted people on here make it in! Good luck everyone!!!

Tashi17, congrats on your acceptance to Minneapolis tech! I haven't heard much about that program either. I think most people are going to MANE schools because of so many programs being MANE programs. If I'm not mistaken I believe St. Paul college and Mpls Tech are the only non MANE RN schools around here? When I looked it seemed like the pre reqs were different from MANE and that there was a time limit on when some of those had to have been done. Being that you got in this shouldn't be an issue for you though:) Have you looked at their nclex pass rates? It was century's high pass rates, close proximity to my house and the three semester length that interested me. I am sure you will love it! Maybe someone will see this and be able to weigh in on their experience. I am impressed with the MANE programs...they seem to be a well oiled machine.
