Hello all you beautiful RN's or soon-to-be RN's.:loveya: I just wanted to begin a new thread for all CCAC students who are applying to the program for FALL 2010. It should be exciting, we will be applying in only a couple of weeks!!!
message me and good luck to ALL!!!
Betty,
you always come through for me!! lol thanks for clearing "my mass confusion" up. Im not gettting discouraged but im just getting more nervous..:uhoh21: i just dont want to mess anything up for this application process.
So if i read this right, i would take my checklist to the clerk at CCAC and she would give me all the papers i need and after that id pickup the application when south finally gets it, and mail all the papers along with the aplication to north (or hand-deliver it)? Is that how were suppose to do it? Im gonna reread the admissions again because they make this so confusing..
I called ERIWORLD and turns out she said i could pay them $40 to receive a copy of my NET OR i could just take the PAX. You probably know ccac switched over from the NET to the PAX now. So i registered for the PAX, i take it January 23rd. so i hope results come back fairly soon after that. i just really have been studying like crazy everyday. i hear the PAX is harder, of course it is! lol
thanks again babe!!!

Yes you take the list to the clerk and she will get everything you need from the campus records. You can mail in the application or hand deliver it. I hand delivered it to make sure that it got there. Once they have your application then you wait forever ( not really but it seems that way ) Then they will send you a letter letting you know if you have been accepted and which campus you will be going to. Then you get a packet from the campus you are attending letting you know everything that you need to get done and they give you a date for uniform fittings & scheduling of classes. After that you have an orientation right before classes start. ( we still don't know when ours is ).............This is where I am at now and I am very very excited to get started!!! I can't wait for classes to start..........My kids think that I am strange because I love school..........LOL
Keep in touch and let me know how things are going...............Betty
Thank you Betty for all your valuable information!
I am sure we will come up with thousands of questions for you pretty soon :)
You are setting a great example for your kids showing them that it is possible to love school at any age
Rebecca, it seems like it will be cheaper to take PAX...keep up the studying and I am sure you are going to do great!
Betty,
i agree with motivated84, you are a excellent role model but not only for your kids but for other pre-nursing students as well. i love it when you can help! thanks times a million!!
Motivated84,
thanks! im gonna try really hard to do well on teh PAX. then hopefully i can get my results and everything together for this VERY CONFUSING application process! lol cant wait to just get it over with!
were gonna get through this, all the way...dont worry!!!
Betty is on the money, although I am going to add a few things.
When you take the checklist to the registration clerk, remember it takes 5 business days for them to get back to you. Plan accordingly with the deadline. Now the reason why, 20-30% off the applications are declined due to not being complete. Why? is starts at the registration office.
this happened not only to me, but a few others during the last round. All items were in plenty of time, sent in the checklist and it came back missing transcripts or admissions letters. We all went back and had to do the checklist a 2nd time for another 5 day wait. With the deluge of requests they get, things get overlooked.
Personally, while the packet will say keep the envelope closed, I opened mine and made sure everything was there. A woman in my Micro class trusted them and she has to wait until the fall to apply.
Second thing, make copies of everything and keep them. Once accepted, you will find out how important concept will be for you.
Hello fall 2010 applicants! I was just checking to see how your application process is going. I also wanted to give you a heads up. I just had orientation today, it was a long exciting day, anyway within the 1st 5 weeks of class you will be tested on dosage calculations for medicines. They had a math teacher go over some of it today but otherwise we just have a book to study from. If you are good with math and metric conversions you should be fine. If you are like me you need to brush up on it! You must pass the test with a pretty high score I am not sure of minimal score but we were told it is something like 93% to pass ,you must pass this test to stay in the program. So needless to say I will be studying book a lot until the test. I would suggest taking a class if there is one available before you get into the nursing program. I would have taken a class had I known about this ahead of time............. Good luck with everything and keep me posted...............Betty

Betty is right, the drug calc is 25 questions, you MUST have 23 correct. If you don't, you have ONE more chance to pass then you are out of the program. Each campus loses about 10% of their class to the drug calc test. Each subsequent year, you start the semester with another drug calc test with the same requirements. Other than metric system, fractions, percentages, and basic algebra you should be familiar with. Also be on the look out for "drug calc" seminars. All campuses offer them throughout the year and before class starts. Anyone can attend these seminars.
The only other recommendation, med terminology. they don't teach it (well, not too much). Keep that in mind for a summer class when you are accepted. It will make life a bit more easier.
Otherwise, applications are out, get that sheet into the registration/admission's office to have your records done. Copy everything, including your NET/PAX test scores, leave nothing to chance.
I have heard they are expecting a record turnout for the fall, so the best of luck to everyone.

Hi everyone, I thought that I would post on this thread to give any help that I can with the application process. I just went through this for spring and I got in! I will be starting at CALU in a couple of weeks. From what I read on your posts, there seems to be confusion on the nursing admission information packet and the actual application packet.
They both have the same information about requirements to get into the program but the application packet will have on the front page the address of north campus application center & the dates that applications will be accepted. You will also have behavioral standards agreement to sign, there will also be an actual application page that you fill out with your name, address etc.. and your 1st & 2nd choice for campuses. there will be a checklist for you to give the records department for the things needed from ccac. there will also be a page explaining the process for fall 2010 ( it will say admissions application process for fall 2010) it gives you all the different options day, evening etc... there is supposed to be an envelope provided for you to put everything into and seal before sending ( the envelope has the checklist on it as well ) Rebecca it's funny that you said south campus did not have the envelopes they did not have them when I picked up the application there for spring either...LOL ( I actually hand delivered my application to north campus and brought envelopes back for south campus...LOL)
I hope this helps you a little bit, I remember felling the same way about this whole process it is very nerve racking.....You guys will get thru it I promise we all did. Read the other thread and see how nerve racking it was for us they took a long time to send out our letters and it felt like forever. If anyone wants to PM me please feel free to do so.
.............Betty
