Failing nclex 6 times

Published

I graduated in July 2014, I failed the nclex 6 times. Did everything Hurts, kaplan, remar review. Ncsbn. I I used the kaplan strategy and study and listen to remar and hurts. My Kaplan average test score between 60 to 65. When I used 50 questions with kaplan I average between 60/65.I am going insane. I don't want to give up coming too far to let go.Please any advice.

My advice is not to rush into taking it again. You may have anxiety or trying to hard at this point.

You say you know content. How about therapy to help with test anxiety or your feelings about failure. After 6 times you know what to expect.

I'm not saying quit, I'm saying find the problem and then go back into it

I wrote this for you and others struggling. Please don't give up! Past failures can set one up to fail again due to low confidence, and it ca. Become a vicious cycle. I think if you know you were meant to be a nurse, you can do this

Keep going! You will pass! Try to cancel everything you've tried and try another approach to STUDYING THE INFO. PLEASE COME BACK TO GIVE US THE GOOD NEWS WHEN YOU PASS!

If you don't know the material, it doesn't matter. And if someone has failed 6 times (like the OP has) there is clearly an issue. Just because you feel like you were meant to be a nurse doesn't mean you can be one.

If someone doesn't know the material that is one thing, but I wasn't talking about that. I'm talking about people who study, put lots of effort in, retain lots of information, and then their anxiety gets in the way come time to take the test. It happens. And it doesn't mean someone should just give up on something they put so much work into. If she wants to keep trying, she should.

How do you know the OP is retaining the info and is just having test anxiety? OP themselves said that English isn't their first language. They may not be comprehending the info the way that is needed to pass. And if she wants to keep trying, that's fine. But at some point, you need to take a long, hard look and make sure that nursing B is the right thing. Just because you want something doesn't mean it's an automatic thing.

I understand that wanting something doesn't mean you can or should have it. But the OP has stated that she has no issues with the content.. That she has studied and worked hard. And the language barrier can be the issue, I agree, but that would mean that she'd have a good chance at passing of she took some basic English classes. Maybe she just needs to prepare in a different way but not give up. Also a lot of the foreign students in my class were very intelligent.. Retained Lots of info but did also take English with nursing courses. Maybe the OP should look into that. I just don't believe in discouraging people

I just don't believe in discouraging people

And I don't believe in telling people everything they want to hear. I believe that someone needs to be realistic, like a lot of people here have been.

I am being realistic. If the language barrier is the problem, then that's not a reason to give up its a reason to learn English better. That's what a lot of my foreign classmates did and they are working as nurses. But i can agree to disagree.

I really appreciate everyone's advice without no exclusion, I am looking into other strategy of study and some kind of anxiety management and try to keep the nclex my priority I have a meeting with in instructor about my situation this week she's willing to help me.I have a great feeling about it .I will keep you updated when I have a good one. But from now on I'm keep myself off this posting back and forth. It was a very great experience, and yes I do respect everyone advice. Thanks all of you that had taken times either positive or negative either way I'm taking all of them as my powerful strength. Thanks again!

Failed it once and passed the second time. I did HURST too but the only difference is, I did LaCharity book for prioritization and delegation few weeks before the test. To think it's been 10 years since I graduated Nursing School.

Hello fellow nurses! Can some of you guys be a little bit nice and not being so nasty for a fellow who is struggling and asking for advice and encouragement. Is it bad that she should come to this forum to seek for help and advice. If you don't like to help her with your advice why not forget commenting on her topic. Even if she doesn't end up being RN she can still become someone in life. You people are not God. You guys are not paying for her exams and she has not asked you for the money why counting and calculating for her how much she has spent and how much she will be spending, I think is nobody's business. Please be fair to your fellows. I will advise the administrator to close this topic if what this person is getting is comments that will make her more anxious rather than help her pick up courage. Forge on girl if you still have the mind and zeal to continue your struggle in becoming an RN. Goodluck and best wishes.
