Ok, so I've worked so darned hard to get through this second semester of LVN program. Got down to the wire of passing my pediatrics class, and missed my window with a test average of 74.87. I completed all of my homework with 100%, which doesn't matter if I didn't get the 75 in test average to move forward. This has completely devastated me. I know I'm the only to blame for not 'getting the grade', but I was hoping the instructor would have some compassion to bump me into the next and final semester. Not a chance. I pleaded with the Dean, and was told, if we gave you that tenth of a point, then they would have to give everyone that tenth of a point. I'm proud to say, however, I did receive 2-A's and 2-B's. But the big whopping "F" on my transcript totally blows.

It happens. Do you have the option of just repeating the module that you failed rather than repeating the entire PN coursework?
Often they won't bump up final averages if the grades going along were rounded up. It's not uncommon that you can have 100% attendance, complete all assignments without fail but not meet the passing standard for the exams or miss a critical skill in clinicals and fail the whole course. It's devastating, especially since you did so well in the other 4 classes. Technically at my school if you failed one class you had to start over from the beginning with the next cohort but there have been exceptions made if someone had superior attendance, attitude, work completion and did well in all other classes that they could rejoin the next course at the point where they failed and keep the high marks earned previously.

don't be too hard on yourself. peds is a difficult subject for most. if you have the chance, go out and buy the pediatric success book by richardson. there are a lot of Q&A and rationales to address them that can help you with your test taking and overall pediatric content. hope this helps and good luck to you! believe in yourself and you can do it!
I would have to start over. Even though I have successfully passed all classes with A's and B's, it's an ALL or NONE scenerio. An entire year of my life has come down to a fraction of a point. I am beside myself and I'm trying to figure out my options now. I do know if I should decided to take a different approach, it won't be at the current college I attend. I have discovered there are programs out there that only require you meet a minimum 2.0 GPA to continue.
Then take a step back and look at all your options. I know deadlines are approaching for many programs so you may have only a short window of opportunity to make a decision. Also, see if any of your current instructors would write a recommendation to assist you in attending another school/program.
Most programs with a minimum of 2.0 often have a clause that you cannot fail certain courses, usually you can obtain the student handbook to find the details of their retention & promotion policy (not that you plan on failing by 0.13 ever again).
